Lionel Richie insists he will never get plastic surgery as it can 'go wrong’

The 'Hello' singer has instead opted to grow old gracefully.

While many celebrities love going under the knife, Lionel Richie has vowed to never get plastic surgery as it always goes 'wrong'.

The 'Hello' singer recently sat down with the Daily Mail following his performance at King Charles II's coronation, when he opened up about cosmetic surgery.

Despite many of his Hollywood chums trying to cling onto their youth, the father-of-three said he would never go under the knife again and instead opted to grow old gracefully.

"[Plastic surgery] locks you in for that year [while you recover] - and after that you can't go naturally, you're staying right there... You try and go back to reset, and you can't," he said.

He added: "[And] that s*** goes wrong!"

However, that's not the only reason he's chosen never to partake in a little nip and tuck.

"God might not recognize me, so I want to make sure he knows me," he continued.

The 73-year-old remarks come after his poorly received performance at the King's coronation at Windsor Castle.

The singer was joined onstage by Katy Perry, Nicole Scherzinger, Take That and Olly Murs, where he sang some of his greatest hits, including 'All Night Long' and 'Easy'.

Before Richie took the stage, he said of the once and lifetime event: “To share the stage with the other performers at the coronation concert is a once-in-a-lifetime event and it will be an honour and a celebration."

While the new King looked to be enjoying the performance and was spotted dancing along, many viewers at home were less than pleased with his performance.

One person wrote: "I can’t get over how awful the Americans we shipped over for coronation sounded lol. Katy Perry serving…vegas residency buffet leftovers, Lionel Richie—beloved, serving retiree cruise line. All so so bad."

Another said: "Lionel Richie sounds like Kermit The Frog. This is terrible. #Coronation."

While a third shared: "Genuinely thought it was an impersonator and not Lionel Richie ..... #losthisvoice."

However, the legendary singer seemed hardly bothered by the criticism, as he posted photos from the coronation concert to his Instagram with the caption: "All night long at Windsor Castle England."
