Jeremy Renner celebrates his 52nd birthday in hospital recovering from snowplow accident

Mom and sister to the rescue!

Jeremy Renner has celebrated his 52nd birthday in hospital as he recovers from his snowplow accident.

The Marvel star is receiving the VIP treatment as he recovers from injuries he sustained when he was struck by his own vehicle while trying to free a stranded car.

His birthday was on January 7 and it looks like he's being surrounded by a top medical crew.

A picture was posted on his Instagram story that thanked the ICU team who have been looking after him since the incident.

It comes after the actor recently shared a video of him being pampered by his nearest and dearest while noting that he had his first shower in a week in the ICU.

Renner wrote via Twitter: “A ‘not no great’ ICU DAY, turned to amazing spa day with my sis and mama. Thank you sooooo much.”

Shortly after the 52-year-old was hit outside his home near Lake Tahoe, he was airlifted and transported to Reno Hospital in a 'critical but stable condition'.

“We can confirm that Jeremy has suffered blunt chest trauma and orthopedic injuries and has undergone surgery today, January 2nd 2023," a representative told Deadline.

"Jeremy’s family would like to express their gratitude to the incredible doctors and nurses looking after him, Truckee Meadows Fire and Rescue, Washoe County Sheriff, Reno City Mayor Hillary Schieve and the Carano and Murdock families.

"They are also tremendously overwhelmed and appreciative of the outpouring of love and support from his fans.”

The Washoe County sheriff's office confirmed they had 'responded to a traumatic injury in the area of Mt Rose Highway in Reno, Nevada'.

The sheriff's office said a strong winter storm had dumped more than two feet (0.6 meters) of snow on the area Saturday night into the morning.

They said Renner was the only party injured in the incident on Mt Rose Highway, and the investigation team would continue ‘looking into the circumstances’.

The actor made his first post since the horrific accident last Tuesday (3 January), where he thanked everyone for their well wishes: “Thank you all for your kind words. I’m too messed up now to type. But I send love to you all.”

Many of Renner’s co-stars responded to the news.

Marvel alum Mark Ruffalo wrote on Instagram: “Prayers up for our brother [Jeremy Renner] on a full and speedy recovery. Please send healing goodness his way."

Chris Hemsworth commented: "Speedy recovery buddy. Sending love your way!"

While his Tag co-star, Isla Fisher, penned: “Phew! I'm so happy you made this post. Sending you so much love and healing energy. We love you."
