Jennifer Lawrence gave Robert De Niro a gift after he welcomed 7th child

The No Hard Feelings star came up with the perfect gift for the dad

Robert De Niro is definitely the kind of person who seems like they'd have everything, making them a very hard person to buy for. But when he welcomed his seventh child, Jennifer Lawrence came up with the perfect gift.

In regular life, 79-year-old De Niro and 32-year-old Lawrence probably wouldn't run in the same circles.

They seem like a pretty random pairing regardless, but things are obviously different in Hollywood, and the two stars are evidently close enough to buy each other baby gifts.

Their link stems from the numerous movies they've worked on together, including Silver Linings: Playbook in 2012, Joy in 2015, and in 2013's American Hustle, in which De Niro had a brief - but uncredited - cameo.

Thanks to their various encounters over the years, Lawrence decided to send over a gift when De Niro welcomed his seventh child, whose arrival he announced in May.

He shares the baby, named Gia, with his girlfriend, Tiffany Chen.

Having welcomed the first baby of her own in 2022, Lawrence began to think about the perfect gift for the parents, and knew exactly what they'd be in need of: sleep.

In an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, the No Hard Feelings star was asked by two audience members if she'd sent over a gift to De Niro, to which she responded: “I did one better, I sent over a baby nurse.”

The nurse would be able to watch over Gia while De Niro and Tiffany took a break, which was probably greatly welcomed after the arrival of the newborn.

“I did," Lawrence said, adding: "I’m really happy for him."

Cohen agreed that a 'night's sleep' is the best gift for new parents, and while they were on the subject of babies he also got an update on Lawrence's own son, Cy.

When asked how the youngster was doing, Lawrence responded: “He’s good.”

De Niro has previously admitted that he doesn't consider himself to be a 'cool dad', and he told Entertainment Tonight that his kids 'disagree with [him] at times', but they're 'respectful'.

"My daughter, she’s 11, she gives me grief sometimes and I argue with her. I adore her, but, you know. And my youngest now, that’ll be more to come. But, that’s what it is," he said.

De Niro also admitted he sometimes has to be 'stern about stuff', saying: “I mean, there’s no way around it with kids. I don’t like to have to lay down the law and stuff like that. But, [sometimes] you just have no choice."

The actor shares children with four different women, including two with his first wife, Diahnne Abbott, and two with his second wife, Grace Hightower.

He also shares twin boys with his former girlfriend, Toukie Smith.
