Robert De Niro shares first photo of his newborn seventh child and confirms who's the mother

The Hollywood legend recently welcomed his seventh child into the world

The fairly surprising news broke this week that Robert De Niro had become a father again for the seventh time.

While most people in their late seventies couldn't think of anything worse than having to run around after a tot, the Hollywood legend decided to give fatherhood another go with his girlfriend Tiffany Chen.

The 79-year-old was speaking to ET Canada about his upcoming movie About My Father when he dropped the bombshell.

While discussing his family life and 'being loving' with his children even though he sometimes had 'to be stern about stuff', he said he was pretty chilled out.

"I mean, there’s no way around it with kids," De Niro told the outlet. "I don’t like to have to lay down the law and stuff like that. But you just have no choice.

"And any parent, I think, would say the same thing. You always want to do the right thing by the children and give them the benefit of the doubt but sometimes you can’t."

However, when the interviewer asked him about his six children, the actor stepped in and corrected him, revealing that he had 'seven, actually'.

"I just had a baby," the Goodfellas star told the reporter.

Well, a couple of days since the news broke, De Niro has now shared the first snap of his little girl, and also revealed her name too.

After learning of his newborn, a presenter on CBS Mornings, who had interviewed him about the film during the same junket, said she was jokingly upset the actor hadn't told her about the baby when she spoke with him.

So she called him up to ask why.

De Niro apparently told the reporter that he didn't want to take anything away from the movie, and the question was never raised to him.

He said that he only decided to mention it when the ET journo said that he had six children, and he 'didn't want to deny her' in that moment, so announced the exciting news.

However, the reporter got her scoop when De Niro agreed to send her a photo of his new baby, and even told her the name.

The icon revealed that he and Chen had decided to call her Gia Virginia Chen-De Niro.

And when asked if she was planned, he told the show that yes, it was all planned out.

He said that they were 'over the moon' and that she was 'brought here by love'.

Well, isn't that nice?
