Dan Bilzerian says 'marriage is a trap' just days after wedding photo

Dan Bilzerian trolled followers with a wedding photo last month, later admitting he thinks 'marriage is a trap'

Social media star Dan Bilzerian isn’t exactly known as a relationship man, having made a point of surrounding himself with beautiful, glamorous women to turn himself into something of a professional bachelor.

Last month, the former marine-turned-poker player threw people off the scent slightly when he posted what appeared to be a wedding photo, with the 41-year-old pictured walking down an aisle in a tuxedo linking arms with a woman in a floor-length gown.

“I finally did it,” he teased in the caption.

While some people were left feeling surprised by the shock announcement, many others suspected not all was what it seemed.

Just days later, on 4 August, Bilzerian then posted a video montage confirming he was, indeed, back to his partying ways, writing: “Marriage is a trap, stay single, smoke @ignite.”

One person joked: “Enjoying your honeymoon I see.”

Another also joined in, saying: “Honeymoon going [fire emoji].”

A third also laughed: “Yo you got divorced already [crying with laughter emoji] they just after a paycheck and a yacht ride.”

Not long after that original ‘wedding’ flick made the rounds, it emerged that Bilzerian had simply attended someone else’s big day. He had been to the South of France to see friend Bill Perkins, a fellow high stakes poker player from Texas, marry now-wife Lara, and clearly couldn’t resist taking the moment to pull a leg.

It's not surprising, given that Bilzerian tends to be a lot more selective with his Insta-content these days, having admitted earlier this year that he needed time to step back a little.

Bilzerian doesn't post on Instagram as regularly as he used to.

Speaking to InsideHook in January, Bilzerian said: "I just lived in the circus for so long that I kind of just — I really needed a break."

He added: "I’ve said this before, but I feel like it’s like a video game that I beat five years ago and I’m tired of playing it."

Speaking about his rise to social media notoriety, Bilzerian continued: "I just wanted to see if I could become famous.

"It was like a mountain I wanted to climb. I was getting out of poker and I felt like this would be a good transition to open doors, to do other things.

"I feel like I’ve done everything. I feel like I did all the things that I wanted to do that people would find impressive.

"So I’ve been more focused recently on just kind of living in the moment and having fun versus trying to show everybody that I’m having fun."
