Images of injuries Angelina Jolie allegedly sustained during a physical altercation with her then-husband Brad Pitt have been made public.

It was reported earlier this week that Jolie had filed abuse claims against Pitt to the FBI in 2016 following a heated encounter that took place on a private jet.

Now, in newly-released images that were originally filed as part of Jolie’s initial complaint, what are alleged to be bruises can be seen on the star’s hand and elbow.

In one black-and-white picture published by Page Six, a hand can be seen with a dark blemish between its index finger and thumb. In a second, another dark mark can be seen on the elbow.

UNILAD has approached representatives for Jolie and Pitt for comment.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Jolie, under the guise of 'Jane Doe', filed a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit against the FBI to release sealed documents about her and Pitt’s heated confrontation in 2016.

Details from the lawsuit were obtained by Puck before it was sealed once again.

During the argument on board their private jet, the FBI report alleges that Pitt accused Jolie of 'ruining his family' before things turned physical.

The actress claimed her ex-husband 'grabbed her by the head’ and ‘shook her' during an argument over one of their children.

It was on this same 2016 flight that Jolie claims Pitt laid hands on their eldest son Maddox.

Pitt’s team has denied all accusations.

Jolie’s alleged complaint, which was amended in August, read: "Ms. Doe has been seeking the withheld information for [several] years in an effort to ensure that her children receive qualified…care and…counseling to address harm suffered.

"Information withheld by DOJ and the FBI contains evidence of the harm.

"The persistent denial of that information to Ms. Doe…a victim of the assault herself – has hampered, and continues to hamper, her efforts to obtain for her children necessary ongoing care and medical attention, and has further harmed the children in the family law system."

In 2016, Pitt’s team denied he hurt his son in a statement to People, which read: "He is emphatic that it did not reach the level of physical abuse, that no one was physically harmed.

"He did not hit his child in the face in any way. He did not do that; he is emphatic about that. He put his hands on him, yes, because the confrontation was spiralling out of control."
