Haliey Welch, known on the internet as the 'Hawk Tuah Woman', has opened up about her family.

Welch was catapulted to internet stardom after a one-off interview where she was asked to name a move that makes men 'go crazy'.

The 21-year-old replied: "You gotta give ’em that ‘hawk tuah’ and spit on that thang. You get me?"

Of course, 'that thang' refers to a leather boot which you spit on in order to polish it properly, driving people 'crazy' with how well-shined it is.

If you think it could possibly refer to anything else, that's entirely on you.

Since the video went viral on social media Welch has seized her moment in the internet spotlight.

This has included public appearances, as well as starting her own line of hats, which are emblazoned with her catchphrase.

Now, Welch has opened up about her family upbringing in an interview on Whitney Cummings’ weekly podcast Good For You.

In the interview Welch spoke candidly about her family, including her mom.

Things kicked off with Welch saying that her celebrity crush is comedian Matt Rife.

By chance, Cummings happens to be a friend of Rife's, and face timed him so Welch could meet him.

After asking Welch how old she was, Rife then asked: "How is your mom?"

Welch came out with a frank reply, saying: "My mama a crackhead, you don’t want her,” before going on to refer to herself as a 'crack baby.'

She then went on to say that it was her upbringing which is the reason why she is 'so funny'.

Rife went on to invite Welch to one of his shows that he would be performing in Nashville.

He said: “I’m in Nashville August 24th doing Bridgestone Arena, do you want to come out?”

Welch started giggling before accepting Rife's invitation to his upcoming concert.

The comedian went on to ask what kind of seat Welch wanted when she came to the gig, asking: “Do you want front row, or do you wanna be off to the side like backstage? What do you prefer?”

Welch replied very confidently, telling Rife: “Put me back there with you, my boy.”

Rife went on to tell Welch: “Oh my God, you gotta meet more celebrities if I’m your celebrity crush. This is so cute."

Finally, when the call ended Rife hung up with the parting shot: “Love you Haliey, see you soon."
