Internet personality Adin Ross has claimed that he and Drake are planning to cover the costs of streamer Jean Pormanove's funeral following his death aged 46.

Pormanove, whose real name was Raphaël Graven, was confirmed to have died on August 18 when one of his co-creators Naruto, whose real name is Owen Cenazandotti, shared the news on Instagram.

In the post, Cenazandotti wrote (translated): "I've always dreaded the day I'd have to write these words. Sadly, last night, JP (Raphaël Graven) left us. (...) I ask you all to respect his memory and not share the video of his last breath in his sleep."

The reason Cenazandotti asked people not to 'share the video' of Pormanove's last breath was because the streamer was actually in the midst of a live broadcast when he passed away, with authorities confirming he was found in a room which had been rented for streaming near Nice, France.

During the broadcast, Pormanove experienced controversial behavior including having a water bottle thrown at him, with The Times of India reporting that he had been subject to 'ten days and nights of torture'.

France's digital technology minister, Clara Chappaz, claimed he had been 'humiliated and abused for months'.

A judicial investigation is now underway to better determine the circumstances surrounding Pormanove's death, and in the meantime fellow streamer Ross has spoken out to condemn abuse taking place online.

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Ross said: "This is horrible and disgusting. Whoever was apart of this deserves to face severe consequences."

The streamer went on to claim that he had spoken with the rapper Drake about Pormanove's death, and said that together the pair would be covering the costs of Pormanove's funeral.

"I just spoke with drake. Drake and I will be covering the funeral costs, this won’t bring his life back, it’s the least we can do," Ross wrote, adding: "Prayers go out to Jean’s family."

As details surrounding Pormanove's death continue to come to light, reports have emerged indicating Pormanove texted his mom a few days prior to his death saying he was tired of taking part in the streams.

CNN reports that according to Cenazandotti, one of Pormanove's messages said the game was 'going too far'.

“I feel like I’m being held prisoner by their sh***y concept,” Cenazandotti said Pormanove wrote, though it's not clear who the streamer was referring to.

Drake has not commented on Pormanove's death at the time of writing (August 21).

UNILAD has reached out to representatives for Drake for comment.
