GTA characters have been brought to life by AI and the results are stunning

GTA: San Andreas characters have been brought to life by AI and the results are uncanny.

In 2023, the power of AI can do wonderful things, just this year we have seen The Simpsons, as a live-action sitcom as well as Family Guy receiving the same treatment.

Now, the characters of the classic video game Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas have been brought to life.

The fifth main entry in the GTA series released in 2004, and while a remaster did release in 2021, the game certainly shows its age, especially in terms of visuals.

But now, a GTA superfan has used AI generation to determine what some of the much-loved characters in San Andreas would look like in the real world.

The fan posted his incredible findings to the StableDiffusion Reddit forum under the username AaronGNP.

The gamer claimed that he used ControlNet, Img2Img, and RealisticVision to turn pixelated characters into people that look more or less real.

With AI, the first character that was shown was of course San Andreas' main protagonist, CJ - or Carl Johnson as he was less commonly known as.

CJ is looking rather impressive after some AI treatment.

Many have pointed out that AI-generated CJ is possibly most like his 2004 video game self, with it really looking quite incredible.

Next up is Officer Tenpenny, as I'm sure many are aware, is a corrupt officer in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

Tenpenny is based off a real-life LAPD officer named Rafael Perez, a key figure in the LAPD Rampart Scandal in the late 1990s.

Officer Tenpenny is next, shame he is a bad cop!

While he may be rather evil in the game, he is looking pretty fine after some AI treatment.

The fan favorite Big Smoke follows, with this one being a personal favourite of ours.

Following Big Smoke is Sean 'Sweet' Johnson in his signature green snapback and sweater combo, with Lance Wilson following.

'Sweet is of course rocking his iconic green look.

More commonly known as 'Ryder', he is one of the main members of Grove Street Families gang in San Andreas.

'Ryder' also dons his iconic green look.

Next up is the leader of the Varrios Los Aztecas gang, Cesar Vialpando, who looks very much life-like.

And following Cesar is his cousin, Catalina - who plays a rather big role in the game's story.

Catalina also received some AI treatment.

The Truth - an ageing hippie and friend of CJ is next, followed by drug supplier Mike Toreno.

Hippie The Truth has never looked so good.

And the final character to receive the AI treatment is the blind leader of the Mountain Cloud Boys, Wu Zi Mu.

Drug dealer Mike Toreno now looks like a real-life drug dealer.

The results from this AI work are quite frankly uncanny, and it will be interesting to see how much more life-like AI can get.

Wu Zi Mu was a main character in San Andreas.

The Simpsons, Family Guy, GTA - what next will get the AI treatment?
