Grand Theft Auto fans have been asking the same question after Rockstar Games surprised us all by dropping the second trailer for GTA VI.
GTA VI's debut trailer revealed a Vice City (AKA Miami) setting, a new female lead character in the form of Lucia, and perhaps some of the best graphics we've ever seen in a video game, period.
It was previously expected that GTA VI would come out later this year, but developer Rockstar announced on Friday (May 2) that the highly anticipated game is now set to release on May 26, 2026.

In a statement shared to Instagram, the game publisher said: "Grand Theft Auto VI is now set to release on May 26, 2026.
"We are very sorry that this is later than you expected. The interest and excitement surrounding a new Grand Theft Auto has been truly humbling for our entire team. We want to thank you for your support and your patience as we work to finish the game."

It continued: "With every game we have released, the goal has always been to try and exceed your expectations, and Grand Theft Auto VI is no exception. We hope you understand that we need this extra time to deliver at the level of quality you expect and deserve.

"We look forward to sharing more information with you soon. Sincerely, Rockstar."
And today (May 6), Rockstar shocked the entire internet by dropping a second trailer for the sixth mainline instalment in the GTA franchise.
And while it offered an incredible look at what we can expect in Vice City, many gamers have been asking the same question on social media.

Basically, fans are questioning why Rockstar has decided to drop the second trailer now despite the game being over a year away from being in our hands.
"Lmao you guys delay it for a year and then release the second trailer? Talk about a đź–• to the fans," one fan wrote on Twitter.
While a second added: "Who the f*** cares about this the game drops in over a year still."
However, someone else claimed: "Honestly it's the best thing they could've done after the delay."

I think we can be all sure it'll be worth the wait, however.

Alongside today's trailer, Rockstar has updated the official GTA VI page on its website, including back stories for main protagonists Lucia and Jason Duval.
A description for the latter reads: "Jason grew up around grifters and crooks. After a stint in the Army trying to shake off his troubled teens, he found himself in the Keys doing what he knows best, working for local drug runners. It might be time to try something new."

While Lucia's way out of a tricky life could be 'a life with Jason' after spending a period of time in prison.
