Here is everything new with the series 8, a lot of these updates come with watchOS 9 and will be available on earlier watch models too.

Our first look at the series 8, at least 3 new colours including gold and red. New features include ovulation tracking, crash detection and new low power mode.

The watch is over 7 years old and hasn't changed form factor very much, aside from larger displays. The introduction of a "Pro" watch this year could see the most significant change to the casing and size since it's introduction

Big change to this event from the previous couple of years is the media have been invited to the Steve Jobs Theater in person.

We don't know yet if the whole presentation will be prerecorded or if we'll return to the stage presentations we were used to before the global pandemic hit. Not long left to find out though.

Interesting announcement from Meta regarding their high-end VR headset

Whilst not related to today's event, Apple is still expected to announce their own VR headset in the near future. Given Apple are known to also hold an October event, it's not improbable they would announce the VR headset as a "One more thing..." at that October event. The date of which is still unknown, but is likely to be October 12th.
