Family of Virginia Giuffre ‘disappointed’ following major update with Andrew

Virginia Giuffre's family claim police issued the statement 'without explanation and without speaking to us'

The family of Virgina Giuffre say they have been left 'disappointed' by the Met Police's decision not to further investigate Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly known as Prince Andrew.

Giuffre died by suicide at her home in Australia in April this year at the age of 41 and wrote novel Nobody's Girl: A Memoir of Surviving Abuse and Fighting for Justice before her death.

Giuffre alleged that she was trafficked by Epstein at the age of 17, while also claiming she was made to have sex with Andrew on three separate occasions - something the former royal has continually denied.

A piece published in the Mail in October alleged the former prince passed Giuffre’s social security number and date of birth to his bodyguard in an attempt to try and 'dig up dirt' on her.

Andrew has denied the allegations.

Following the publication of the allegations, there had been calls for the Met Police in the UK to open an investigation.

However, police have since said they have not received any evidence to justify opening a full-blown investigation.

A spokesperson for the police force said: "The Met remains committed to thoroughly assessing any new information that could assist in this matter.

"To date, we have not received any additional evidence that would support reopening the investigation. In the absence of any further information, we will be taking no further action.

"As with any other matter, should new and relevant information be brought to our attention, including in any information resulting from the release of material in the US, we will assess it."

Giuffre's family said in a statement on Saturday (December 13) that they were 'deeply disappointed' by the recent development and claimed the allegations had been dismissed 'without explanation and without speaking to us'.

"With the Epstein files about to be released by Congress since the passage of the Epstein Transparency Act, we are surprised that the Metropolitan Police didn't wait to see what further evidence might appear," they stated.

"While we have hailed the UK's overall handling of the case of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor previously, today we feel justice has not been served."

The family went on to say they will continue to 'challenge the system that protects abusers', before adding: "Especially as more evidence comes to light that can hold people accountable.

"Our sister Virginia, and all survivors, are owed this much."

Andrew paid Giuffre millions to settle a civil sexual assault claim in 2022.
