Russia's extensive new training method appears to be preparation for conflict with NATO

Russia's defense ministry has released footage of the training exercises

Russia's new training methods appear to be in preparation for conflict with NATO rather than to be used in Ukraine, according to reports.

Since Vladimir Putin invaded Ukraine in 2022, there appears to be no end in sight.

Russian drone and missile strikes hit the country’s north-eastern Sumy region on Sunday (July 27), wounding four people.

Meanwhile, Russian officials claim they have shot down 50 Ukrainian drones, with one person killed and three others injured near St Petersburg.

And it appears Putin may be preparing for more conflict, with Business Insider reporting Russian forces have been using naval drones equipped with explosives to practice attacking and sinking ships.

The outlet notes the training is likely not for the Ukraine war considering Kyiv does not have a traditional navy to attack.

Instead, the training is likely directed at NATO and the potential of war with the military alliance.

And the fact the Russian defense ministry has released footage of the training suggests they are certainly not frightened of the threat.

While the training attacks may have been mockups, footage captured from the Black Sea showed a massive blast, as naval drones, aerial drones, helicopters, and ships were put into action.

Putin said in a statement that 'the Navy's exercise is primarily designed to thoroughly train naval forces in repelling maritime attacks and performing the full range of extremely challenging and unconventional operational and tactical missions, and other tasks in a realistic simulated environment.'

The president went on to say the 'training incorporates experience gained during the special military operation', the term Russia has used when discussing its invasion of Ukraine.

Russia is not the only country preparing for conflict, as the US Navy introduced new training simulations designed to ensure sailors know how to respond to an attack.

Speaking in Turnberry, Scotland on Monday (July 28), Trump said he was 'very disappointed' with Putin, as the Russian leader continues to fire the missiles at Ukraine.

Standing alongside British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Trump said: "We thought we had it settled numerous times, and then President Putin goes out and starts launching rockets into some city like Kyiv and kills a lot of people in a nursing home or whatever.

"You have bodies lying all over the street, and I say that’s not the way to do it. So we’ll see what happens with that.”

Russia has since responded to Trump's comments, saying the Kremlin 'took note of President Trump's statement yesterday'.
