North Korean soldiers 'hooked on porn' after being given internet access while fighting for Russia against Ukraine

Soldiers from North Korea are reported to have got themselves hooked on explicit adult movies after being sent to Russia to fight against Ukraine in the ongoing war.

Up to 12,000 soldiers are being sent to join the ongoing war as part of a pact with Moscow, and many have already been thrown into the thick of the conflict in Russia's border region of Kursk.

Andrii Kovalenko, the head of the counter-disinformation branch of Ukraine's Security Council, wrote on Telegram this week that 'the first North Korean troops have already been shelled, in the Kursk region'.

However, away from the front line, reports have emerged that soldiers from North Korea have been passing the time by exploring the world of streaming.

It is widely known that North Korea has strict rules when it comes to internet access, meaning many of its residents are unfamiliar with just how much the world wide web has to offer.

But we're not talking about a bit of Netflix or Prime Video here - instead, a source has claimed they're well and truly getting stuck into porn.

The news was shared by Financial Times chief foreign affairs commentator Gideon Rachman, who wrote on Twitter: "A usually reliable source tells me that the North Korean soldiers who have deployed to Russia have never had unfettered access to the internet before. As a result, they are gorging on pornography."

Rachman didn't reveal his source, or exactly how they'd managed to figure out what the North Korean soldiers were up to in their down time, but the news quickly began to gain attention.

"We laugh but this was us in the mid-90s", one person wrote in response.

Another added: "Love this for them."

Though a lot of people clearly want the news to be true, a spokesperson for the Pentagon told Task & Purpose they weren't able to confirm or deny the claim.

Army Lt. Col. Charlie Dietz commented: "As entertaining as that sounds, I can’t confirm any North Korean internet habits or virtual ‘extracurriculars’ in Russia."

Understandably, Dietz pointed out that authorities have bigger fish to fry than whether soldiers are watching porn.

"We’re focused on the more serious aspects of North Korea’s involvement, if any, in Russia’s military operations", Dietz continued. "As for internet access, that’s a question best directed to Moscow.

"Right now, our attention remains on supporting Ukraine and addressing the more significant regional security concerns.”
