The sister of the woman who went missing while waiting for a connecting flight in Los Angeles has spoken out after she was found safe.

Kobayashi had been traveling from her home in Maui, Hawaii, to get a connecting flight to New York via Los Angeles but never actually boarded the flight to the Big Apple.

A widespread search was sparked for the aspiring photographer, with Kobayashi's father Ryan Kobayashi flying from Maui to LA in hope of finding his daughter.

Late in November, he was tragically found dead in a car park near the airport in what is believed to be suicide.

Kobayashi was found 'safe and well' in Mexico earlier this week, with a family statement shared with the MailOnline stating: "We are incredibly relieved and grateful Hannah has been found safe.

"This past month has been an unimaginable ordeal for our family, and we kindly ask for privacy as we take the time to heal and process everything we have been through."

Kobayashi's sister Sydni has since spoken out after he sister was found, stating she hasn't seen Hannah yet.

"At this time, my mother and I have not physically seen Hannah. We do not have actual proof of where she is, other than that she is somewhere in Mexico," Sydni said.

"We have only spoken to her over the phone, and she was allegedly found safe with Larie [Pidgeon, Hannah's aunt], but at this time, she does not wish to return to us."

This comes after Sydni and Larie clashed during the search for Hannah, with Sydni criticizing Larie for agreeing to multiple media interviews while Hannah was still missing.

Sydni told News Nation: "It's really unfortunate when you have to question family. The fact that she has gone rogue and wants to disconnect from [our effort], that's on her."

For her part, Larie accused Sydni of 'throwing her under the bus' and wanting to be 'the face' of the search instead of her in an interview with the New York Post before Hannah was found.
