This comes after the US and Israel blasted Tehran, the nation's capital on February 28, killing Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in his office, and allegedly striking a girl’s elementary school too.

Afterwards, in a statement on its website, the FCDO warned: "Due to the threat posed by escalation in the region, we recommend against all travel to Israel and Palestine. On 28 February 2026, the US and Israel commenced joint military action in Iran, Israeli airspace has now closed."
Iran then launched retaliatory attacks on US base locations in the Middle East like Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and the UAE, leading to the UK Foreign Office warning British nationals take shelter.
One person was reportedly killed, and 11 others were injured at airports in Dubai and Abu Dhabi after they were targeted by Iran.
"Remain indoors in a secure location, avoid all travel and follow instructions from the local authorities," the FCDO’s updated warning read to citizens after it was reported that Dubai's famous Burj Khalifa hotel and airport were hit.
Now that the UK’s foreign office has reported that protesters have stormed the US consulate in Pakistan, killing nine and injuring 32 per the BBC, the office has warned travelers away from flying to Pakistan too.
Other location to have diverted or suspended flights include Qatar Airways, which confirmed the temporary suspension of flights in and out of the capital, Doha, as well as the closure of Qatari airspace, saying operations would resume at 19:00 local time today.

Currently, the airlines cancelling flights include Aegean Airlines, Air Astana, Air Canada,
Air Europa, Air India, ITA Airways, KLM, LOT, Lufthansa, Norwegian Air, Pegasus Airlines, Turkish Airlines and Wizz Air.
The latest update by the UK Foreign Office today has advised against ‘all but essential travel to Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and the UAE’, adding in an X post: "If you are a British national in those countries, you should shelter in place and register your presence.”
