    Missing student fell into trash can while looking for her phone before being crushed by garbage truck, police say

    A young woman is feared dead after police discovered human remains at a waste plant in Majorca.

    Agostina Rubini Medina has been missing for three weeks and was last seen on a night out with friends in Palma, Majorca, on October 2.

    Police have since been appealing for information on Agostina's whereabouts.

    Deputy Police Chief Fernando Reboyras described the missing student as 'a thin woman who had difficulty consuming alcohol'.

    "This was made worse by the medication she was taking," he added at a press conference last week.

    Agostina's mother told local press: "We exchanged totally normal messages as she told me that she was going to have a drink.

    “We talked about the weather, how cold it was, there was nothing strange.”

    Now it's feared that the 24-year-old may have died after falling into a trash can.

    It's then thought she was crushed by a truck's garbage smasher before being incinerated.

    As to why she was by the trash can, police have suggested that the student may have dropped something in it that she was trying to retrieve.

    The truck that's thought to have unknowingly picked Agostina up was carrying seven tonnes of trash.

    And now skeletal remains have been found at the Son Reus garbage disposal plant, the Majorca Daily Bulletin reports.

    DNA analysis at the Institute of Legal Medicine in Palma will confirm if they belong to Agostina.

    Police said they thought she 'voluntarily climbed inside one of the rubbish containers and lost consciousness', adding that it was 'impossible to survive inside a rubbish truck'.

    Law enforcement are said to have tracked Agostina's cell and saw that she was in the area by the trash can for around 30 minutes. The signal was then tracked to incineration plant where human remains have been discovered.

    The final signal pinged at at 2.59am local time.

    Agostina - who is thought to have been under the influence of alcohol at the time - was seen on the night in question by a shop worker where the 24-year-old visited to buy a bag of chips on her way home shortly before midnight.

    Another witness then saw Agostina's bag by the large trash can she's feared to have fallen in just 15 minutes before refuse workers arrived to collect the trash.
