John Schneider is under fire from a lot of folks online after comments he made about US president Joe Biden.

The 63-year-old, who is best known for starring as Bo Duke on the TV series Dukes of Hazzard, recently completed a stint on the popular singing show The Masked Singer.

Just hours after he was revealed as the donut character on the Fox reality TV show, Schneider took to X, formerly known as Twitter, in a now deleted post.

The actor replied to comments made by Biden on X about former president Donald Trump.

"Trump poses many threats to our country: The right to choose, civil rights, voting rights, and America's standing in the world," the US president stated.

"But the greatest threat he poses is to our democracy. If we lose that, we lose everything."

Responding to the post, Schneider penned: "Mr. President, I believe you are guilty of treason and should be publicly hung. Your son too. Your response is..? Sincerely, John Schneider."

Such comments are, of course, going to provide a reaction on social media.

Even though the post has been deleted, many have slammed Schneider for his comments.

Investigative journalist Victoria Brownworth wrote: "Just here for the ratio and to let you know that it’s ‘hanged,’ not ‘hung’. There’s zero evidence of ‘treason.’ Step out of the Fox News bubble."

As per Newsweek, another social media user wrote: "Wow! You’re calling for the execution of a sitting president. May the secret service show up at your door with a reply."

Deadline has since reported that the Secret Service - an agency that forefronts the efforts to protect presidents and their families - have opened a preliminary investigation into the comments made by Schneider.

The comments have sparked quite the reaction online.

Those who are found guilty of threatening 'to inflict bodily harm upon the president of the United States' could be fined or even spend up to five years in prison, according to US federal law.

Schneider has since come out and released a statement stating he did not advocate for Biden's execution.

"I absolutely did not call for an act of violence or threaten as US president," he said in a statement provided to Deadline.

"It’s my position, which I am entitled to have, that some of our nations leaders in Washington have lost their way, and corruption runs rampant, both on our nation’s borders and abroad. Transparency and accountability must happen in order for our constitutional republic to survive. There is no threat implied or otherwise in that statement."
