Stephen King fans are concerned after the author made an unusual tweet about Jeffrey Epstein's infamous 'client' list.
Epstein's name has been back in the news recently as Donald Trump's administration pulled a U-turn and said they wouldn't be releasing the highly sought-after files.
Epstein had built a vast network of powerful connections before being exposed for the serial sex trafficking of underage girls.
After a controversial 2008 plea deal for procuring minors, he was arrested again in July 2019 on federal sex-trafficking charges; days later he was found dead in his Manhattan jail cell, officially ruled a suicide.

Conspiracy theories have been rife for years, suggesting Epstein had some form of 'client list' that had rich and powerful people involved in his sex ring.
But US attorney general Pam Bondi and the Department of Justice denied last week the list was even a thing, adding they would not release any additional files related to the case.
That's despite Trump promising multiple times during his 2024 presidency campaign to release the files.

He's now taking it all out on previous governments, hitting out on Truth Social amid all the noise: "For years, it’s Epstein, over and over again.
"Why are we giving publicity to Files written by Obama, Crooked Hillary, Comey, Brennan, and the Losers and Criminals of the Biden administration."

Now, author Stephen King has weighed in on the matter.
On Tuesday (July 15), he posted on Twitter: "The Epstein client list is real. So is the Tooth Fairy and Santa Claus."
Many hit back at King, expressing their surprise at the post - particularly when the author has been outspoken in his criticism of the US president up until this point.
Discussing the tweet over on Reddit, one person suggested: "Pretty sure he’s saying it never existed," as they went on to suggest Trump made up the list as a 'big scandal' he could lay bare, just to help in his presidential campaign.

"Maybe he's saying that the list never existed and Trump just used the 'list' to win the election," a second social media user agreed, adding: "That's pretty strange."
"That’s how I would interpret it too. From my understanding, while there probably is more information and names somewhere, there was never an actual list," a third reckoned.

There were a number of instances where Trump or his colleagues declared the government would publish the Epstein files.
In January 2024, Bondi hit out at a federal judge’s release of unsealed court documents about Epstein.
"It should have come out a long time ago," she told Fox News host Sean Hannity. "If people in that report are still fighting to keep their names private, Sean, they have no legal basis to do so unless they're a child, a victim or a cooperating defendant."
In February 2025, she once again told Fox News that releasing the files was a 'directive by President Trump,' and that 'it’s sitting on my desk right now to review' before publicly handing over 'phase one' of heavily redacted documents.

In October 2024, then-vice-presidential candidate JD Vance was a guest on comedian Theo Von's podcast.
Speak of Trump's pledge, he said: "We need to release the Epstein list,” while Politifact notes that Trump 'shared multiple times during the 2024 campaign that he would ‘probably’ declassify Epstein files if elected.'
A Financial Times analysis similarly reports that Trump made a 'campaign promise to release the so-called Epstein files,' a pledge his supporters still cite as late as July 2025 when the administration declined to publish any additional documents.
