Chilling surveillance footage captures moment woman begs for help after escaping machete-wielding kidnapper

The 47-year-old woman told police the man was trying to 'abduct' her

Surveillance footage caught at a home in Southeast Portland shows the moment a woman begged for help after escaping her suspected kidnapper.

The 47-year-old woman was caught on camera banging on the door of the home after she'd jumped from a moving car to run away.

In the clip, obtained by KATU, the woman can be seen looking back over her shoulder and repeatedly saying: "He's trying to abduct me."

The incident took place at Southeast 112th Avenue and Southeast Lincoln Street at 1:39am local time on May 31.

According to the outlet, the woman was offered a ride home by the driver while she was walking along the side of the road.

She got in the car, but then attempted to get out when they stopped at an intersection.

The driver quickly pressed the accelerator to stop the woman from leaving, but she continued her attempts to escape as she began to fight the driver.

The suspected kidnapper then allegedly punched the woman in the face, and it wasn't until she reached the neighborhood where she was seen on video that she eventually managed to escape by jumping out of the car.

Court documents claim the driver started to make sexual remarks to the woman when she got into the car.

The doorbell footage shows the woman cowering behind a car as she attempted to hide from the suspected kidnapper.

She also managed to call the police while trying to seek help from someone in the home.

In the video, the kidnapper's car can be seen driving away in the background. He later pulled into a restaurant parking lot and pulled out a machete, police said in the court documents.

Authorities responded to the scene on a report of a woman screaming and running from a man.

The 47-year-old thankfully managed to escape with just a few cuts and bruises she received when jumping out of the car. She was treated by paramedics at the scene for her injuries.

Police identified the suspected kidnapper as a 25-year-old man named Ra Fet.

Investigators distributed a description of the suspect’s vehicle after he fled the scene, and he was spotted at 2:21am local time at Northeast 82nd Avenue and Northeast Beech Street, where he was pulled over by police.

Fet was arrested and booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on a number of charges, including first-degree kidnapping, first-degree sexual abuse, coercion, menacing, fourth-degree assault, reckless driving, and recklessly endangering another person.

He appeared in court on 3 June and pleaded not guilty to his charges, according to KATU.

Police are urging anyone who has information about this crime or crimes committed by Ra Fet to e-mail [email protected] and reference case number 24-133625.
