Medical examiner releases report on 'tragic event' after man, 32, died on rollercoaster as family reach agreement with Universal

Kevin Rodriguez Zavala lost his life after riding the Stardust Racers at Universal Epic Universe in Orlando

A medical examiner has released their report on Kevin Rodriguez Zavala's death.

On September 17, Kevin and his girlfriend visited Universal Epic Universe in Orlando, Florida, and went on one of the park's rides — the Stardust Racers. But when the ride returned to the launch track, Kevin was unconscious.

Universal Orlando Health Services and Orange County Fire Rescue Department proceeded to perform CPR on the 32-year-old before he was taken to hospital. Sadly he was later pronounced dead.

The park issued a statement at the time of Kevin's passing that read: "Universal is cooperating with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office following a tragic event involving a guest at Epic Universe on Wednesday night.

"The guest became unresponsive after riding Stardust Racers and was transported to the hospital, where the guest later died. We are devastated by this event and extend our sincerest sympathies to the guest's loved ones."

"We are fully committed to cooperating with this ongoing investigation. The attraction remains closed," the park added.

The ride was then reopened again on Saturday, October 4.

Kevin's family proceeded to file a suit against he park following his tragic passing and acquired the services of Ben Crump.

Now, almost two months on from Kevin's death, and a medical examiner has released a report stating that Kevin died from multiple blunt-force injuries. He apparently had extensive bruising, a broken nose, internal bleeding and a fractured femur, Fox 35 Orlando reports.

Kevin's also believed to have suffered a broken thigh bone that was 'completely broken in half', according to one witness who identified as a doctor.

Investigators found that the ride was working as it should have been, while also stating that it took 'three or four' attempts to secure Kevin's lap bar before the ride was dispatched.

There isn't believed to have been any foul play regarding his death and the sheriff’s office says nothing criminal occurred.

The report also noted Kevin's preexisting health issues including a history of spinal injuries and past surgeries.

In the days that have followed the report's release, Kevin's family are said to have reached an agreement with Universal.

Personal injury attorney Crump said on behalf of the family in a statement shared with UNILAD: "The family of Kevin Rodriguez Zavala and Universal have reached an amicable resolution in this matter. The terms are confidential.

"The family is grateful for the community’s support and asks for privacy at this time."
