The brother of convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein has opened up about the identity of 'Bubba'.

Last week, a series of emails from disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein dating between 2011 and 2019 was released by the lawmakers on the House Oversight and Reform Committee.

In one particular email correspondence between the convicted sex offender and his brother, Mark Epstein, a person named 'Bubba' was referenced, with the message making the wild claim that US President Donald Trump was 'blowing Bubba'.

The 2018 message, in which the brothers talked about whether Vladimir Putin had knowledge of an alleged image showing 'Trump blowing Bubba', has spread like wildfire on social media for a very specific reason.

'Bubba' is a nickname which is used to refer to former US president Bill Clinton, who has also been pictured with the late Epstein. As a result of that, the internet has gone into overdrive with speculation about whether 'Bubba' actually refers to Bill Clinton, and what this might mean.

Now, Mark Epstein has spoken to The Advocate in a story published on 16 November in an attempt to clarify who this is referring to.

In the interview, Mark made it very clear that 'Bubba' does not refer to former President Bill Clinton.

“For the avoidance of doubt, the reference to ‘Bubba’ in this correspondence is not, in any way, a reference to former President Bill Clinton," he said.

Who exactly is 'Bubba'?

Well, that's not actually clear, with Ali Clark, a spokesperson for Mark, telling The Advocate that 'Bubba' is 'a private individual who is not a public figure'.

Mark added that the allusions being read into the exchange were a misreading, saying: “They were simply part of a humorous private exchange between two brothers and were never meant for public release or to be interpreted as serious remarks."

This isn't the first time Trump's name was mentioned in the emails, with Epstein joking about his failed businesses, saying the president 'knew about the girls', and claims that he spent hours at Epstein's home with an unnamed guest.

In response to the emails, White House deputy press secretary Abigail Jackson said in a statement shared with PEOPLE: “Those emails prove literally nothing. Democrats and the mainstream media are desperately trying to use this hoax as a distraction to talk about anything other than the President’s many wins, including the Democrats getting utterly defeated by President Trump in the shutdown fight.

"We won’t be distracted, and the entire Administration will continue fulfilling the promises the President was elected on, including cutting the Biden-era price hikes."

Donald Trump's response to the emails

Donald Trump has also personally issued a statement on his social media platform Truth Social on 14 November, in which he called the emails a 'hoax'.

The president wrote: "Now that the Democrats are using the Epstein Hoax, involving Democrats, not Republicans, to try and deflect from their disastrous SHUTDOWN, and all of their other failures.

"I will be asking A.G. Pam Bondi, and the Department of Justice, together with our great patriots at the FBI, to investigate Jeffrey Epstein’s involvement and relationship with Bill Clinton, Larry Summers, Reid Hoffman, J.P. Morgan, Chase, and many other people and institutions, to determine what was going on with them, and him."
