A former aide to a Republican politician has been accused of staging a false attack on her after paying a body scarification artist to deliberately injure her.

Natalie Greene, 26, of Ocean City has been charged with multiple offences over an alleged plot to stage a fake attack on her based on her political beliefs.

This allegedly included paying someone to deliberately scar her, before she was bound with zip ties.

On 23 July 2025, law enforcement responded to a 911 call from Greene's co-conspirator, and found Greene in a wooded area with her hands and feet bound together with zip ties, screaming that one of her attackers had a gun.

The alleged co-conspirator also claimed that the attackers had specifically referenced her employment by a federal official, who has not been named in court documents.

Greene's shirt had been pulled over her head, and a number of words had been written over her body, including one message on her stomach and on her back.

The two-word message on her stomach read 'TRUMP WH*RE', while the one on her back referred to a Republican official, saying '[NAME] IS RACIST'.

When investigating officers searched Greene's phone, they discovered messages between her and a body scarification artist in which she had sent him a design indicating the pattern of scarring that she wanted.

Images investigators took of Greene in hospital after the alleged attack showed that the scarring on her shoulders matched photos taken by the artist after the scarification was completed at his studio, which were shared with investigators.

The artist also shared a waiver that Greene had signed prior to getting the work done.

Zip ties were also recovered from Greene's car which were similar to the ones used to bind her arms and legs, while analysis of her co-conspirator's phone revealed a search for 'zip ties near me' two days before the alleged attack.

When interviewed by officers, Greene had claimed that her alleged attackers had a gun and had threatened to shoot her, and that one of the alleged attackers held her down and restrained her movement, as well as cutting and writing on her body.

After receiving medical treatment for the injuries, Greene was also interviewed by an FBI agent.

Following an investigation by law enforcement, Greene has been charged with one count of conspiracy to convey false statements and hoaxes and one count of making false statements to federal law enforcement.

At an initial court hearing on 19 November 2025 U.S. Magistrate Judge Elizabeth A. Pascal released Greene on an unsecured bond of $200,000 ahead of the next hearing.

In a statement, lawyer Louis Barbone, who is representing Greene said: "At the age of 26, my client served her community working full time to assist the constituents of the Congressman with loyalty and fidelity. She did that while being a full-time student.

"Under the law, she is presumed innocent and reserves all of her defenses for presentation in a court of law."
