Elon Musk has left a lot of people on social media fearful about the future after sharing a new AI video on his X page.

The Tesla CEO's Optimus Gen 2 robots have terrified the internet before, but the end goal of these robots is to, according to the company's website, 'create a general purpose, bi-pedal, autonomous humanoid robot capable of performing unsafe, repetitive or boring tasks'.

Musk has previously demonstrated what kinds of tasks those could be, such as folding some clothes or pouring you a drink.

And today (November 21), he shared an AI-generated video of what life could look like if Optimus robots were out and about in our everyday lives, seemingly as a showing of the possibilities and aims of how far he hopes the technology can go.

However, the video has been turning off some social media users.

The video, created by Alex Utopia using Grok Imagine and Nano Banana Pro, featured Optimus robots in a plethora of jobs, such as chef, police officer, construction worker, and paramedic.

But it didn't stop there; there were also what appeared to be robot influencers filming themselves on the street or the beach.

One robot was even enjoying a glass of whiskey and a game of poker; however, some aren't impressed, going so far as to compare it to a dystopian sci-fi film like 2004's I, Robot.

One user commented: “We don’t f**king want this, Elon. We’ve already seen the movies.”

Meanwhile, another wrote: “It's 2025 and the world's population is increasing everyday, and instead of looking for a way to create more jobs, the world is looking for a way to take the ones humans already have supporting themselves and their families, and giving it to objects, which is sad.”

A third wrote: “Looks Just Like A Scene From iRobot," as someone else said: “I hate everything about this. Humans should never be replaced by AI or robots. Ever!! The movie iRobot is becoming real.”

However, despite some worried comments, others actually welcomed this idea of the future.

One person said: “This isn’t about the montage, it’s about Tesla showing the types of tasks Optimus will handle as the hardware catches up. Every robot revolution started with a vision video.”

Another added: “The future showed up early. Robots in real-world jobs aren’t sci-fi anymore — they’re inevitable."

A third seemed a bit on the fence about it, as they said: “Working as a paramedic - this would truly change the game. Kinda afraid but kinda very curious. Lets see what happens when robots taking over."

Musk has previously stated that he thinks 'Optimus will be the biggest product of all time by far', and has further estimated that there will be at least 10 billion humanoid robots walking around by 2040.

"Nothing will even be close. I think it’ll be 10 times bigger than the next biggest product ever made," he told Tesla employees in April.
