The man who caused Drew Barrymore to be escorted from a stage in New York has now shown up near her estate in Long Island.

The man's spontaneous arrival at her home comes after he caught Barrymore's attention while she was on stage giving a talk with actor and musician, Reneé Rapp, at the 92nd Street Y in New York on 21 August.

Footage from the event showed the man, who identified himself as 'Chad Michael Busto', shouting the actor's name from the side of her stage, causing her to look up in shock.

"Oh my god, yes? Hi!," she said, looking over at the side of the stage where the man was approaching.

After the man introduced himself, he said: "You know who I am. I need to see you at some point while you're in New York."

Barrymore and Rapp quickly got to their feet and left the stage as security intercepted the man.

The video was later shared online with a caption which claimed the man was a 'stalker', and that he'd been escorted out of the venue after the incident took place.

It seems his determination to 'see' Barrymore only continued in the following days, however, as now the New York Post has cited sources claiming the same man was arrested outside Barrymore's home in Long Island on Wednesday (23 August).

Law enforcement sources said a man identified as Chad Michael Busto was caught after going door-to-door in Barrymore's neighborhood in Southampton, as he attempted to track down the 50 First Dates star.

Southampton Town Police Lieut. Todd Spencer told Entertainment Weekly: "It was reported to us that he was on the property — we did not see him on the property."

Spencer added that Busto was located 'in the vicinity' of Barrymore's home, after which he was detained for a short period.

The New York Post has obtained police reports relating to a man named Chad Michael Busto, including offenses for criminal trespass and harassment, though it has not been confirmed whether they are linked to the man in the video.

Barrymore's fans were left shocked by the man's brazen approach after watching the footage taken from the event in New York, with one Twitter user writing: "LEAVE CELEBRITIES ALONE! They’re just people."

Another added: "There needs to be way better laws that deal with stalking," while a third said: "Omg? Poor drew!! She doesn’t deserve this!! Sending lots of love her way!! Hopefully people stop stalking her!!"

UNILAD has contacted Southampton Police Department for comment.
