Donald Trump has warned that countries that rally with ‘the Anti-American policies of BRICS’ will face serious repercussions as he reveals a major trade deal update - with notices going out today.
Earlier this year, on what was dubbed ‘Liberation Day’, Trump, 79, announced a sweeping set of ‘reciprocal’ tariffs on nearly all countries. These duties will impact any country importing foreign goods into America, with money being needed to be paid to the US government.
While some territories like the United Kingdom and New Zealand initially faced 10 percent levies, other nations like Cambodia, South Africa and Vietnam had originally been slapped with duties as high as 46 percent.

Last Thursday (July 4), Trump stated that his administration would start sending out letters to countries, detailing exactly what import duties they would be expected to pay to the US.
"My inclination is to send a letter out and say what tariff they're going to be paying," he reasoned. "It's just much easier.”
The Republican has since confirmed via his own social media platform, Truth Social, that these letters will begin to be delivered from today (July 7).
“I am pleased to announce that the UNITED STATES TARIFF Letters, and/or Deals, with various Countries from around the World, will be delivered starting 12:00 P.M. (Eastern), Monday, July 7th,” he typed.

“Thank you for your attention to this matter! DONALD J. TRUMP, President of The United States of America.”
12 minutes after the major update, the 47th President of the United States returned to Truth Social to write a chilling warning. His post served as an alarm bell for any nation thinking of aligning with BRICS-aligned countries.

These include core countries Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, as well as Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran and the United Arab Emirates.

“Any Country aligning themselves with the Anti-American policies of BRICS, will be charged an ADDITIONAL 10% Tariff,” the father-of-five stated via Truth Social.
“There will be no exceptions to this policy. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”
When asked about Trump’s comments regarding BRICS, a spokesperson for China’s Foreign Ministry called the intergovernmental organization an ‘important platform for cooperation among emerging markets and developing countries’.

Adding that BRICS ‘avoids bloc confrontation or targeting any specific country’, spokesperson Mao Ning said: “We consistently oppose tariff wars and trade wars, as well as using tariffs as a tool for coercion and pressure. Arbitrarily increasing tariffs does not serve the interests of any party.”
BBC reported that the initial deadline for countries to agree on a tariff deal with the US had been set for July 9.

However, US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick has since confirmed the duties will commence on August 1 instead.

“It’s not a new deadline. We are saying, 'This is when it’s happening. If you want to speed things up, have at it. If you want to back to the old rate, that’s your choice,'” Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent told CNN.
It’s understood that if you ‘don’t move things along, then on August 1 you will boomerang back to your April 2 tariff level’.
As well as the major players receiving tariff letters, Bessent claims 100 smaller countries where the US doesn’t ‘have very much trade’ could also be on the receiving end of levy legislation.
