Donald Trump got candid about his chances of getting into heaven in a new interview conducted after he met with European leaders to discuss the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine.
Trump sat down with leaders, including Britain's Keir Starmer and France's Emmanuel Macron, at the White House on Monday (August 18), shortly after he welcomed Ukraine's Volodymyr Zelenskyy to talk about reaching a peace deal with Russia's Vladimir Putin.
The POTUS later took to Truth Social to describe the meeting as 'very good', adding: “During the meeting we discussed security guarantees for Ukraine, which guarantees would be provided by the various European countries, with a coordination with the United States of America.

“Everyone is happy about the possibility of PEACE for Russia/Ukraine."
Following the meeting, Trump spoke to Fox and Friends about how it had gone and expressed belief that his efforts might actually have some pull with the big man upstairs.

The president has previously discussed his thoughts on religion, saying during a Q&A in 2015: “People are so shocked when they find … out I am Protestant. I am Presbyterian. And I go to church and I love God and I love my church."

However, Trump appeared to acknowledge in his new interview that he may not be first in line for the pearly gates, so he's now hopeful that he'll get a bit of good karma for trying to end the war.
He said: “If I can save 7,000 people a week from being killed, I think that’s pretty– I want to try to get to heaven if possible, I’m hearing that I’m not doing well. I am really at the bottom of the totem pole.
"But if I can get to heaven, this will be one of the reasons."
Elsewhere in the interview, the president claimed Putin and Zelenskyy were maybe 'getting along a little bit better' than he'd expected.
He explained: "Otherwise I wouldn’t have set up the [bilateral] meeting, I would’ve set up a three — a trilat. But I think they’re doing a little bit better. There’s been tremendous bad blood.”
Trump assured that he has informed Putin that he would be meeting with Zelenskyy, saying: "I told him that we’re going to set up a meeting with President Zelenskyy, and you and he will meet, and then after that meeting, if everything works out OK, I’ll meet and we’ll wrap it up.

"It takes, in this case, two to tango. They have to have somewhat of a relationship, otherwise we’re just wasting a lot of time.”
