Donald Trump is facing backlash after a ‘petty’ move against Obama as tensions seemingly remain high between the two.

The relationship between Donald Trump and Barack Obama appears to have taken a significant turn in recent months.

Last month, Trump accused Obama of ‘treason’ and insisted he and his team were 'guilty' of committing a criminal offense relating to the 2016 election, in which Trump beat Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton, as well as sharing an AI video of Obama being 'arrested'.

Obama's office has since slammed the allegations as 'bizarre' and 'ridiculous', though whether the Trump administration could go down the route of legal prosecution is incredibly unlikely.

On August 10, it was reported that Trump had recently remodeled the White House, which some have interpreted as a slight against the former president.

In 2022, Obama’s presidential portrait was unveiled, and it was hung in the grand staircase of the White House, where it remained for a few years.

However, after returning to the White House, Trump had the picture moved to a different spot in the Entrance Hall, and that spot was replaced with a portrait of him surviving his assassination attempt.

Trump has seemingly moved it again to a ‘secret staircase’, according to CNN, where only a few White House individuals have access, meaning those who visit the historic building daily will not be able to see it.

Former President George W. Bush and his father, George H.W. Bush, have also been moved to the staircase, CNN reports.

That area is heavily restricted to members of the first family, US Secret Service agents, and a limited number of White House and executive resident staff.

Multiple sources also told the publication that Trump is directly involved in any aspect of the White House's appearance.

This hasn’t gone down well on social media, with many taking shots at Trump for the supposed move.

One Reddit user called him 'hilarious and insecure', while another added: “Man. Trump is microscopic with all the petty s**t he pulls. He can't help himself, he's so insecure.”

A third person commented: “Hiding Obama's portrait will not prevent him from living rent free in Trumps puny mind.”

California Governor Gavin Newsom even took a shot at Trump after hearing the news that the portrait had been moved.

His press office took to Twitter and shared a report on the story and commented: “Small men hide from history’s giants.”

UNILAD has contacted The White House, Obama's and Bush's offices for comment.
