Jimmy Kimmel’s long-running show has been suspended following comments he made in relation to Charlie Kirk's death, and people have highlighted a post from President Trump that shows he 'coordinated an effort to silence' the host.
As always, Kimmel took to commenting about some of the biggest news stories of the week - but this time it hasn’t gone down well.
On the latest episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, he took shots at Trump for his reaction to the news that Conservative activist Charlie Kirk was fatally shot while speaking at Utah Valley University on September 10.
22-year-old Tyler Robinson has since been charged with Kirk's murder, as well as other offences, including obstruction of justice.

Kimmel shared a clip of Trump being asked by a reporter about how he was holding up after it was confirmed that Kirk had died, to which Trump replied: "I think very good," before pivoting away from the subject entirely and talking instead about renovations happening at his Washington, D.C. residence.

Kimmel mocked this, saying: “He’s at the fourth stage of grief: construction. This is not how an adult grieves the murder of someone he called a friend. This is how a four-year-old mourns a goldfish, OK?"
It was confirmed on September 17 by the nation’s largest ABC affiliate group, Sinclair, that Jimmy Kimmel Live! had been suspended ‘indefinitely’.

Some fans have since pointed out that Trump said only a few months ago in July that Kimmel 'was next', following the news that Stephen Colbert’s late-night talk show had been cancelled.
Writing on social media at the time, Trump warned that Kimmel ‘would be next’ to go.
In his post on Truth Social, Trump penned: “The word is, and it’s a strong word at that, Jimmy Kimmel is NEXT to go in the untalented Late Night Sweepstakes and, shortly thereafter, Fallon will be gone.

“These are people with absolutely NO TALENT, who were paid Millions of Dollars for, in all cases, destroying what used to be GREAT Television. It’s really good to see them go, and I hope I played a major part in it.”
Some social media users have claimed they find this suspicious, considering Trump’s repeated public denouncement of Kimmel.
One Twitter user wrote: "Not even two months ago Jimmy Kimmel shared this post by tr*mp saying he’s next on his Instagram…and guess who was next."

California Governor Gavin Newsom even weighed in, posting: “A coordinated effort to silence critics and free speech. Must be a coincidence.”
Another person joked: “Whoa Buddy. When I said free speech I didn’t mean you could start saying things I don’t like.”
However, some argued that Kimmel’s suspension had nothing to do with Trump and was simply the company making a decision regarding the comedian’s comments.
Trump appeared to relish in the news that Kimmel’s show was suspended and took to Truth Social to mock the comedian - however, he gave no indication he had anything to do with it.
