Demetrius Terrence Frazier's final words have been revealed after the convicted murderer was executed.

Frazier was killed by nitrogen gas yesterday (February 6) in Birmingham, Alabama – making him the fourth person in the state to be executed this way.

Frazier, 52, was sentenced to death after being found guilty of the rape and murder of Pauline Brown in 1991.

Just two months before Brown's death, Frazier had raped another woman in Detroit, Michigan.

Then, in 1992, he was tried for the murder of 14-year-old Crystal Kendrick, whom he'd also tried to rape. He ended up murdering the teenager after she tried to flee.

Frazier had been serving a life sentence in Michigan for Kendrick's murder, and when he'd been arrested for the teen's killing, Frazier was facing 35 pending felonies, as per USA Today.

His criminal history dated back to when he was a child. As a juvenile, he was reportedly charged with carrying a concealed weapon, violating probation for breaking and entering, and violation of probation for carrying a concealed weapon.

It was while he was being questioned about Kendrick's 1992 murder that Frazier admitted to killing Brown.

He went on to be convicted of three counts of capital murder and he was sentenced to death by an Alabama jury.

Frazier was first held in Michigan, where he was serving a life sentence for Kendrick's death, but was moved to an Alabama facility in 2011 where he was placed on death row.

Over 10 years later and Frazier was executed yesterday. He had requested that he died by nitrogen gas.

Speaking before he was put to death, the convicted rapist and murderer apologized to Brown's family.

"First of all, I want to apologize to the friends and family of Pauline Brown, what happened to her should never have happened,” Frazier said.

He added, the Alabama Reflector reports: "I want to apologize to the Black community."

Frazier then shifted his attention to Michigan Goveor Gretchen Whitmer for not intervening with his case. There had been calls for him to remain in Michigan to serve his life sentence, instead of being executed in Alabama.

In a question aimed at Whitmer, he said: "If you cannot stand up for the constitution of Michigan, how are you going to stand up for the US Constitution when you run for president?"

Some of his final words were: "Detroit strong. I love everyone on death row. Let's go."
