A close friend of Charlie Kirk who witnessed his assassination has spoken out on his final moments.
Christian author Frank Turek was one of 3,000 people supporting Kirk at the Utah Valley University event on September 10.
Kirk was hosting a debate on behalf of Turning Point USA, a non-profit he founded to bring 'Conservative politics' to colleges and high schools across the nation. The controversial activist was fatally shot by a single bullet to the neck, in front of a horrified crowd.
His wife - former Miss Arizona, Erika Kirk - and their two young children were among those watching.

Kirk was a close ally of President Donald Trump, who has since condemned the act of violence.
Now, Kirk's friend and mentor, Turek, has spoken out about what happened when he died - and what happened 'the moment he was hit.'

Turek is an author and founder of CrossExamined.org, a ministry that promotes Christian apologetics.

He took to his YouTube channel of the same name, and in a newly-uploaded video lasting an hour and 15 minutes, described how the Utah Valley University crowd was among the most enthusiastic he'd ever seen.
Standing behind Kirk on stage, Turek recalled supporters chanting 'USA' and cheering as the activist tossed MAGA hats into the audience.
Turek then FaceTimed his wife, son, and daughter-in-law to show them the scenes. But when Charlie answered a question about gun crime and 'trans violence', a shot rang out.
Turek recalls seeing Kirk fall and says he initially ducked for safety himself, before scrambling to assist his long-time friend.

Charlie was rushed to hospital in an SUV by Turek and his team, as they began CPR. And despite hospital staff later being able to regain a pulse, Turek said, there was nothing more that could be done to save him.
Describing Kirk's last moments, Turek said: "Charlie wasn't there. His eyes were fixed. He wasn't looking at me. He was looking past me right into eternity. He was with Jesus already."
"He was killed instantly and felt absolutely no pain. That's what I was told later."

Later on, he added: "So if that's any comfort at all, Charlie didn't suffer. He was gone. He was with Jesus, absent from the body, present with the Lord."
After the event, internet conspiracy theories spiralled, with some suggesting that a 'man in a white hat' was signalling the shooter - the man in question being Turek. The podcaster addresses this theory in the video, too, obviously dismissing it as false.
He said he was simply holding his phone while FaceTiming.

"It's crazy that people actually believe this stuff. But, you know, if it's on the internet, it must be true, right? Don't believe in these crazy conspiracy theories. You need evidence," he said.
"It's ridiculous. I didn't even know about it. For... 30 hours after the murder, we were in a bubble.
"When I finally meet my my wife back in Phoenix, she goes, 'There are millions of people who think you were in conspiracy to kill Charlie.' I'm like, 'What? That's crazy.'"
