Tucker Carlson announces he’ll be doing his regular news show on Twitter after being axed from Fox

He's called the social media site the last true platform for free speech.

Tucker Carlson has announced he will be returning to the news show that made him a household name in the US.

However, it won't be in the format that you're used to.

The news anchor parted ways with Fox News last month in a move that shocked many.

It had a huge flow-on effect for the network as it lost loads of viewers and its stock price was dealt a huge blow.

Fans of Carlson were devastated when they realised their favorite news man wouldn't be giving them their information.

However, he's now revealed he's coming back in a big way.

Tucker has announced he will be doing his regular news show on Twitter.

He believes the social media site is the last platform that truly allows 'free speech'.

"Twitter has long served as the place where our national conversation incubates and develops," Carlson said.

"Twitter is not a partisan site. Everybody is allowed here.

"And we think that is a good thing."

He added: “We’ll be bringing a new version of the show we’ve been doing for the last six and a half years to Twitter.

“We’ll bring some other things, too, which we’ll tell you about.

"But for now we’re just grateful to be here.”

In his video to Twitter, he didn't mention his sensational axing from Fox News, however he strongly alluded to the possible reason for it.

He told his followers: “The best you can hope for in the news business at this point is the freedom to tell the fullest truth that you can.

"But there are always limits.

"And you know that if you bump up against those limits often enough, you will be fired for it. That’s not a guess, that’s guaranteed.”

He believes that by launching his news programme on Twitter he will be able to finally say what he wants without restrictions.

“Speech is the fundamental pre-requisite for democracy," he said.

"That’s why it was enshrined in the first of our Constitutional amendments.

"Amazingly, as of tonight, there are not that many platforms left that allow free speech. The last big one remaining … is Twitter, where we are now.”

However, Twitter does have policies on what you can and can't say, so it isn't the absolute true platform for free speech as Carlson puts it.
