A Hindu temple in India is said to contain a trillion dollars worth of treasure.

Named The Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple, which is located in the Indian state of Kerala, the historic building dates back over 5,000 years.

There's six vaults inside the temple which holds the treasure, five of which have been opened over the years.

But one of the vaults - named Vault B - wasn't opened because it's rumored that its guarded with supernatural powers.

With this mind, anyone who tries to open it might suffer devastating consequences.

Elsewhere, it's said that rather than containing treasure, Vault B somehow opens out to the Arabian Sea.

While the sixth fault is reportedly yet to be opened, the other five vaults in question were ordered to be unsealed after an order by India's Supreme Court in 2011, following a petition being put forward seeking transparency in the running of the famous temple.

It was then that some of the amazing treasures were revealed.

Speaking on an episode of The Hunt for Hidden Treasures, Forbes' Jim Dobson shared: "They documented everything in the chambers. One chamber was just for ornaments and jewlry, [and] another chamber was just for jewels.

"They were sacks and sacks of diamonds and rubies and emeralds.

"There were thrones made of gold. There was a 300 pound gold veil, and there was a rope of gold chain that was 1100 pounds."

Going on to explain why the temple is worth so much, Dobson said that it dates back to when the Maharajas would tax the lower caste system.

Elsewhere it was reported that 7kg of gold coins were found that dated back to the 1700s, as per Times Now.

There was also said to be 9 foot-long gold necklace weighing 2.5 kg and one ton of rice gems made with gold.

The outlet also stated that a small gold statue of an elephant was discovered, and 3.5 foot-tall statue of Mahavishnu made in gold and studded with diamonds, rubies and hundreds of other precious stones.

While it's said that the infamous Vault B has never been opened, Auditor General Vinod Rai told the Supreme Court in 2011 that the mysterious chamber has been opened at least seven times, to his knowledge, since 1990, Forbes said.

It's unclear who opened the vaults, but it isn't thought anything bad had happened to them since.

Or has it...
