Travelers have revealed there may be an issue people need to get checked if they keep getting stopped when going through TSA scanners at the airport.

Traveling at the best of the times can turn into a taxing affair, but things can often be made worse when having to deal with a stressful security experience.

Some people have even taken to social media to reveal some of the issues they have had while going through TSA scanners.

Users have noted that regularly being called aside for a personal search after passing through scanners might be part of a wider health issue.

In a post on the travel subreddit, one woman stated: “I travel a lot. For years I've been pulled aside at times after going through the machine but now it's every time I fly.”

“I've changed how I dress. Leggings to jeans and yet I still get pulled aside. They always have to check my crotch.

“As a woman with thicker thighs, I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong in my pose. I pause in the instructed pose and try not to move and I'm still flagged for crotch check."

Users noted that the woman may be inadvertently setting off the scanners not because she is doing anything wrong, but rather because she may be suffering from health issues she is not aware of.

One person commented: “A lot of the new scanners are not metal related and act more like X-rays.

“Do you have endometriosis or fibroids? People with excess soft tissue or tumors/remnants of tumors have set the scanners off. Do you wear breathable underwear? Excess heat can throw the scanners off also.

“If you travel a lot, get TSA pre check and/or global entry (if available for you), it'll help this all immensely.”

The same user went on to say it was important to get checked by a doctor for some of these health conditions on the possibility these undiagnosed issues are what is causing the screening issues.

They added: “If you're not having any issues or symptoms I'm sure you're ok! But yes, please take care of yourself and make sure if you are having issues, that you advocate for yourself! I had to push for treatment for my endometriosis and andomyosis because I was under 40.”

Other Reddit users highlighted their own negative experiences dealing with the screenings.

One person commented: “I can confirm. I had a crazy muscle knot in my shoulder and the scanner also flagged me down and I was pulled to the side for further scanning. Even saw the TSA agent look at the scan and point to the exact location of where my shoulder was having issues.”

Another said: “Confirmed. I used to get pulled for a left boob pat down sometimes. That’s where I had cysts.”

With another adding: “I have lipomas in that area and I think that’s why for me. I just go straight for the grope since that’s where I’ll end up anyway.”
