An influencer is campaigning for significant changes to be made to the hospitality industry to better accommodate 'all sizes and abilities'.

In a bid to 'revolutionise' the travel industry and make it a 'more accessible, accepting, accommodating place for all' Jaelynn Chaney is calling upon airlines and hotels to make some pretty big changes.

Catch the social media influencer talking about her proposed plans for hotels here:

In a video posted to TikTok, Jaelynn - who goes by @jaebaeofficial on the platform - states: "The needs of plus-sized travellers matter just as much as anybody else and today I'm going to cover what we are looking for in accessible, size-inclusive hotel amenities."

Jaelynn then lists certain changes hotels should make, the first of which is providing 'sturdy wire chairs without arm rests in guest rooms, lobbies and common areas'.

The influencer explains this will better accommodate different body types.

Jaelynn has made suggestions for how hotels can be more size-inclusive.

Jaelynn also calls for hotels to ensure beds have 'strong support' and a 'higher weight capacity'.

"Along with providing re-enforced chairs and wider bathroom facilities," she adds.

The third demand on her list is for elevators and hallways to be made wider and 'more spacious', while the fourth suggestion is for 'grab bars' to be installed in showers and near toilets to make sure spaces are more accessible for people who are larger or have mobility difficulties.

Later on Jaelynn mentions pools should have these bars too, and toilet seats should be raised as well.

Jaelynn wants lifts to be widened in hotels.

Number five relates to hotel staff, and involves making sure staff don't discriminate against guests because of their size and are as 'accommodating' as possible.

Other points focus once again on seating options and providing larger and more sturdy pieces of furniture, as well as plus-sized friendly bath robes and towels.

"Last but not least, [...] display clear and accurate information on these amenities on hotel websites," Jaelynn concludes. "Include weight limits, seat dimensions and things like that."

The influencer has received a mixed response to her campaign.

People have flooded to the video to weigh in with their view on the ten changes she suggested hotels make to be more inclusive to guests of 'all sizes and abilities'.

One TikTok user said: "I agree with some but others are just not possible. The amount of money it will take to make all of these changes is unreal."

"I agree this is ideal, but some of these are out of the hotel control. Lift size for example," another added.

A third commented: "As someone in hotel management, many budgets simply wouldn’t allow for this. You’re asking for tens, hundreds, & even million dollar adjustments +."

However, a final noted: "I agree… things need to change according the lives people of many diverse people who are not Quote on Quote the average size or body extremities."
