People think Cher made unfortunate blunder in tribute to the Queen

Cher made what some people believe was a very unfortunate blunder in her tribute to the Queen, having referred to the late monarch as a farmyard animal in her emotional message.

Following the news of Queen Elizabeth’s death yesterday, many people have taken to social media to pay their respects to her, with world leaders including France's Emmanuel Macron also sharing official statements to honour the ‘kind-hearted Queen’.

Singer Cher also took a moment to reflect on the late ruler’s life, saying she once had the ‘honour’ of meeting her.

She tweeted: “Am Sad About The Passing Of Queen Elizabeth II. I Had Honor Of Meeting Her. I Was In Long Line of Ppl Waiting 2 Meet Her, Yet When She Got 2 Me, She Asked Me Pertinent Questions,& Seemed Genuinely Interested In Talking 2 Me. I’m Proud She Was a [cow emoji] & Happy She Had a Great Sense Of Humor.”

The cow emoji Cher included left a few people feeling slightly confused, with one commenting: “What does the cow/bull symbol mean in this statement?”

Someone else said: “Cher accidentally posted the wrong emoji.”

A third asked: “Did Cher just call the queen a cow?”

Others wondered if the star had actually meant ‘GOAT’ - or Greatest of All Time.

“Cher casually calling Queen Lizzie a COW instead of a g.o.a.t... there are tears in my eyes I CANTTTT,” one said.

However, some felt Cher’s use of emoji was fully intended, speculating that it was meant to stand for a bull – the animal used to represent the Taurus Zodiac sign, which was Queen Elizabeth’s.

Someone explained: “I first read it as cow and thought to myself I know Cher is not calling the queen a cow. So I thought about it for a second and realized it was the astrological sign Taurus.”

Another agreed: “Cher is one of those astrology girlies who thinks everyone else is super into astrology. Ma’am, come on now.”

That idea does seem to stand up grammatically, as we tend to say 'the GOAT' over 'a GOAT', if we're saying someone is the Greatest of All Time.

Either way, the Queen is known to be a fan of cows, having been seen on camera reacting excitedly to cattle being paraded as part of her 90th birthday celebration a few years back - with now-viral footage showing her saying: "Cows!"
