The Olympics is where amazing happens, but a slow-motion video of a Team USA gymnast has left people picking up their jaws from the floor.

To be honest, whenever the Olympics are on, it is always an awe-inspiring time.

We get a chance to see some of the best athletes in the world in their element in some of the highest stakes you could really ask for.

So, seeing something amazing and surprising... well, it's to be expected.

However, people on social media can’t quite wrap their heads around some gymnasts and their performances, most notably Sunisa Lee for America.

In fact, in case you had missed it, Team USA stars Simone Biles, Sunisa Lee, Jordan Chiles and Jade Carey carried the US to gold in the team event on Tuesday.

They finished with a score of 171.296, nearly six points more than second place which went to the Italian team with a score of 165.494 points. Brazil took third place with a score of 164.497.

Despite the team's victory, some people on social media seemed more concerned with criticising Biles' hair than her becoming the most decorated US gymnast in Olympic history, and she had a blunt response for the haters.

Meanwhile, one clip of Lee’s balance beam routine has gotten particular attention.

The video has gone viral on Twitter with over five million views and is shown in slow motion, pretty much highlighting just how physics-defying the performance is, with multiple no-hand somersaults.

“Aren’t there laws in physics?” joked one user. A second person simply wrote: “This is insane.”

“I’m always in awe of these athletes. Sometimes I fall over putting on my shoes,” a third commented.

“Her hands and arms movement. It's magical, like a majestic butterfly,” another added.

“There are women defying gravity on a beam and I can't even lift my leg over my work table,” commented another.

While the team has been heaping on praise with the team’s gold medal success, it hasn’t all been smiles the last few days.

Lee’s teammate Jordan Chiles divided the internet after her reaction to not being able to qualify for the Olympics' all-around individual final for women's gymnastics.

Chiles was ousted from joining her teammates, Biles and Lee, in the final because of a specific rule set by the Olympics.

According to the fine print, each competing country is only allowed to send two gymnasts to the finals.

Lee managed to just about outscore Chiles, meaning it would be her and Biles in the final.

Following Lee's win, Chiles appeared to be fiercely disappointed and her reaction has completely divided viewers on social media.

Some remarked she shouldn’t look so annoyed, let alone at her teammate, while others defended her, claiming she has been perfect this Olympics and shouldn’t be attacked for a few seconds of frustration.

Team USA's current medal count - 28
