People have been left stunned by the performance of a marksman at the Olympics for his rather unconventional approach.

Yusuf Dikec was competing for Turkey in the 10 metre air pistol competition, and one photo has people on social media all saying the same thing.

Shooting events have drawn a lot of attention from fans over the equipment and technology that many competitors use.

This includes specialist shooting glasses such as those worn by South Korean athlete Kim Yeji.

One side of the glasses covered her left eye to get rid of any double vision, while the other side contained a specialist lens to increase her precision.

The effect looked like something out of a cyberpunk story, and gold medal winner Kim only added to the effect by sporting a baseball cap and carrying her daughter's stuffed toy elephant in her non shooting hand.

For Yusuf, however, people were left stunned for a completely different reason to Kim.

That's because Yusuf showed up with no specialist equipment whatsoever, simply sporting a pair of regular glasses as he took aim.

But the dead-eyed athlete seemingly had little need for the technology to help him shoot with startling accuracy, and the 51-year-old took home the silver medal in the 10 metre air pistol, alongside his teammate Sevval Ilayda Tarhan.

People were impressed, and a little bit intimidated, by Yusuf's performance.

One joked: "Did Turkey send a hitman to the Olympics?"

Another posted: "I love how everyone uses specialized lenses for shooting to avoid blur and increase precision...

"But then Turkey sends out a guy who looks like he just picked up the gun for fun and wins silver."

The games are Yusuf's fifth outing at the Olympics, and he and Sevval only narrowly missed (geddit?) taking the gold.

While people were very impressed by Yusuf's choice to forgo equipment, they were equally taken in by Kim's appearance with her aiming glasses.

Another video from the shooting world cup in Baku in May showed her winning the 25 metre pistol competition, and breaking the world record.

Many people were impressed by how calm and almost nonchalant the athlete appeared during her appearance at the competition.

One remarked: "This is the coolest anyone has ever looked while breaking a world record," while another echoed the sentiment, writing: "And she's nonchalant about it, oh she's the coldest main character out there."

Meanwhile a third said simply: "This is the coldest sh*t. I'm obsessed."
