It doesn't look like Jake Paul will be returning to the boxing ring anytime soon.

Paul went head-to-head with Anthony Joshua on December 19 and successfully went six rounds with the heavyweight champ before being knocked out in the sixth round.

The brutal KO left Paul with a fractured jaw and needing surgery.

Speaking after the fight, he said: "Anthony's a great fighter, I got my a** beat, but that's what this sport's about. I think my jaw is broken by the way."

"Yeah, it’s definitely broke," Paul went on. "But man, that was good. A nice little a** whipping from one of the best to ever do it.

"I love this so I’m going to come back and get a world championship belt at some point."

He ended up having titanium plates fitted in his jaw and having some of his teeth removed.

In a health update shared on December 21, Paul revealed he was only able to have liquids for seven days, meaning it's very unlikely that the 28-year-old would have been able to have a traditional Christmas dinner.

Now he's given another update on how he's doing and shared that he's been struggling to sleep.

"I got four plates in my jaw but that’s part of the sport. The healing process has been a little bit tough," Paul admitted to DAZN (via The Sun).

He continued: "I’m a little bit tired, it’s hard to sleep, I go onto the pillow and then my jaw twerks up to the left and I wake up so."

"It’s all part of the sport and it was an amazing night and I learned a lot, gained a lot of experience and we’re moving onto more fights this year," he added.

While he spoke of returning to boxing this year, Paul is facing an indefinite boxing ban as a result of the serious injuries he sustained fighting AJ, who was recently involved in a fatal car crash that killed two of his friends.

According to MMA Sports, Paul has been hit with a medical suspension and will not be allowed back in the ring until he gets cleared by a physician.

The Florida Athletic Commission confirmed the medical suspension to the news outlet on Sunday (January 4).

Speaking on his brother Logan Paul's podcast, the 28-year-old revealed the moment it 'all went down hill' for him during the fight.

He said: "It was just mental. It was just like him imposing his will on me, and being massive, and the big shots landing. Then yeah, it pretty much all goes downhill from there."

The younger of the Paul brothers went on say that his 'biggest mistake' was not doing altitude training beforehand.
