Jake Paul was left with a shocking injury after taking on two-time heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua on Friday night (December 19).

Going head-to-head at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Joshua claimed victory over the YouTuber-turned-boxer, with the fight ending in the sixth round.

The duo went head-to-head for six, three-minute rounds before Joshua finally secured the win, with Paul knocked out after suffering multiple knockdowns.

The highly anticipated match initially got off to a rocky start, with neither Joshua nor Paul landing much in the way of punches as Paul danced around the ring trying to avoid a fight.

However, in the sixth round, it was a blow from Joshua that not only ended the fight but also inflicted a severe injury on Paul.

Immediately afterwards, Paul was left spitting blood as he revealed that Joshua had broken his jaw.

"Anthony's a great fighter, I got my ass beat, but that's what this sport's about," said Paul. "I think my jaw is broken by the way.

"Yeah, it’s definitely broke. But man, that was good. A nice little a** whipping from one of the best to ever do it.

"I love this so I’m going to come back and get a world championship belt at some point."

Paul later confirmed that his jaw was broken in two places, writing on X: "Double broken jaw. Give me Canelo in 10 days."

He also shared an X-ray photo of his injury, which revealed two breaks.

Some were surprised that Paul had managed to last six rounds against Joshua, but Paul said he could have carried on if he had 'better cardio'.

"I’m not surprised, I just got tired," he said.

"It was just so much handling his weight. If I had better cardio I could have maybe kept on fighting. But he did amazing and he hits really hard."

Meanwhile, despite his victory, Joshua described the fight as 'not his best' performance.

"It wasn’t the best performance. It wasn’t the best," he said. "The end goal was to get Jake Paul, pin him down and hurt him. That has been the request leading up. That was on my mind.

"It took a bit longer than expected, but the right hand finally found the destination. Jake Paul – he’s done really well tonight. I want to give him his props.

"He got up time and time again. It takes a real man to do that."
