A sex surrogate has opened up about her controversial job, including sleeping with over 400 clients.

Kaly Miller, 52, works as a 'sex surrogate', with her job being to help people to work through any challenges and insecurities they might be facing when it comes to intimacy.

Let's face it, there's no shortage of that - insecurities and anxieties around sex are practically as old as humanity itself.

But while other sex therapists will sit down and talk with their clients over the course of therapy, Kaly also takes a more hands-on approach.

This includes teaching her clients how to kiss, and even sleeping with them as part of the way she helps people to work through insecurities.

She revealed that she first got into the unusual line of work in her late 30s after previously working as a massage therapist for athletes, explained she'd 'noticed the relationship between high-end sports performance anxiety and how that replicated into home [life]'.

Keeping things 'professional'

Among the challenges is a big blurring of the line between herself and her job, she revealed.

Asked how she keeps things 'professional', Kaly said: "I think the first thing you need to change is yourself. I had to let go of all the judgements I had.

"So the first point of call is to change yourself and then reflect that back into I am a mirror to you.

"I'm not a teacher. I'm not a guru. The whole work is done through me, but you do that work, and I just model what intimacy is."

Speaking about having a partner in this job, she told This Morning on January 27: "They wake up with me at 6 o' clock in the morning and I go into my own personal practice.

"They cannot question what I'm doing, because they're in it with me."

She added: "If anyone wanted to have some sort of connection with me, there is no me without this work."

Kaly's first client

At first she was understandably quite nervous, but revealed that the factor which made her go from being unsure to knowing that this was what she wanted to do was 'my first client'.

"It was an incredible person that had spent their lives very shy, very awkward, never really progressing into any intimacy," she said. "They were mid sixties."

She revealed that when she asked the client why they had employed a surrogate partner, they told her: "I won't wanna die without knowing what love feels like."

"That sentence flew through me," she said.

She confirmed that after 12 months, her first client had found a relationship, and came to know what love felt like.

Kaly is now writing a book about her job, and explained that her family is supportive of her work, and her mom even had a surprising reaction when she explained to her what the work entailed, saying: "My mum's reaction when I explained what I was working with was 'I think I would be a really good surrogate partner, wouldn't I?'."

She added that her kids and her parents, especially her dad, are her 'number one fans'.

Despite the challenges, Kaly explained that her job has become an important part of her.

"I have this myriad of memories of magical moments," she said, "I know the outcome, many of them are married, they have children."
