A psychologist has opened up about the meaning behind dreaming about sleeping with your ex.
When it comes to dreams there are plenty of different types out there, which may have particular meanings.
You might dream about being chased but your feet are somehow stuck to the ground, or that you're falling, or have gone to work but forgotten to wear trousers.
One type of dream which is also a staple is one which is not safe for work, and like the other one we mentioned, it also probably doesn't involve trousers.

This is of course a sex dream, and whether it's with a crush, a celebrity heartthrob, or even a total stranger it's an entirely normal thing to have - in fact it makes up about eight percent of all dreams adults have.
However, while it's one thing to have a dream involving a celebrity crush, it's quite another if it's about someone that you've previously been in a relationship with.

That could make for some awkward conversations with your current partner - especially if you're prone to talking in your sleep.
But embarrassing conversations aside, a psychologist has now opened up about what it actually means if you're still having those kind of dreams about a former partner.
Clinical psychologist Borbála Rozsnyik collaborated with Erotik.com, and reflected on what this could mean.
And yes, it may mean that you're still hung up on someone.
"This can indicate emotions that have not yet been fully processed - such as longing, anger, fear, or a sense of loss," said Rozsnyik.
But there might be more to it as well, such as the dream being a manifestation of an encounter with someone unexpected.

"How can dreams be explained in which someone has sex with an unexpected person - such as a colleague or friend?" Rozsnyik said. "Such dreams may reflect exploring boundaries, hint at forbidden wishes, or symbolize traits that the dreamer associates with that person."
Just how much store should we set by dreams though? Are they a reflection of something more, or just our brains having random activity while we're asleep?
"Dream interpretation can be meaningful when a dream continues to occupy someone’s thoughts," said Rozsnyik.
"I do not believe dreams are purely random by-products of neural activity. At the same time, not every dream necessarily has a deeper meaning. Sometimes a dream simply reflects a moment of feeling good during sleep - which may even have a positive effect on the following day."
