People have been pointing out the same thing after Donald Trump unveiled his '24 Karat Gold' Oval Office.
It's no secret what the president's favorite color is, with the sprawling White House estate having undergone a gaudy transformation since he returned to office in January, with gold-plated grandeur to the extreme.
Fixtures, fittings, picture frames, ornaments, trinkets, flashy ornaments and other blinged-up embellishments hug every nook and cranny in the Oval Office, while Trump has a similar vision for a new $200 million ballroom.
In defense of his decor choices, Trump said: "There’s nothing like gold, and there’s nothing like solid gold," when trying to appeal to FIFA President Gianni Infantino to 'keep' the original FIFA trophy in the office.

Although his efforts to keep the 'OG' golden trophy were unsuccessful, the POTUS has now built up quite the collection, even reportedly having his own expert flown in aboard Air Force One to add the gilded touches in a similar style to his Mar-a-Lago residence.

Now, he's apparently quite chuffed with the look, boasting on social media that the Oval Office and Cabinet Room has 'some of the highest quality 24 Karat Gold.'
Sharing video footage of his golden trinkets and glittering trophies, Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform: "Foreign Leaders, and everyone else, 'freak out' when they see the quality and beauty.

"Best Oval Office ever, in terms of success and look!!!"
Yet the grand reveal hasn't sat so well with his critics, who point out a stark contrast to the golden HQ - that the rest of the US is suffering with saddling debts.
According to the latest Fiscal Data, the US national debt sits at a staggering $37.47 trillion.
The sum has spiralled in the aftermath of several historic events, notably the two world wars, Afghanistan and Iraq wars, the 2008 Great Recession and the Covid-19 pandemic, ultimately hiking the debt from $395 billion in 1924 to $35.46 trillion a century later.

Dozens of Americans have since been pointing out the disparity between the regal appearance of the White House and the reality they face when buying groceries, housing and healthcare.
"I don't know who needs to hear this; but this styling is unAmerican," said one in response to Trump's decor. "Gold fixtures like these are found in Versailles or St. Petersburg, meant to show off the wealth of the King or Tsar.
"It says a lot about how the White House views it's own Presidency."

A second chimed: "He doesn’t care about that [the national debt]. It’s all a c**k swinging contest to him.
"'Look at all my gold. Pay attention to me.' He couldn’t care less about America, the debt or the American people.

"Trump’s putting in a show for his billionaire buddies and the dictators of the world."

A third added: "How are his MAGA base not furious at him for this kind of BS? He's boasting over gaudy decorations and a ballroom no one ever asked for while gas and groceries go up, farmers are going under, we turn on our allies but bail out Argentina?"
The 79-year-old had previously described the room as in need of 'a little life' after his predecessor Joe Biden, but confessed it's been difficult to get gold paint to look like real gold.
A White House spokesperson also confirmed that the gold, 'of the highest quality', has all been personally paid for by Trump, while the touches prompted Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt to describe it as a 'golden office for the golden age.'
