Donald Trump has claimed that a huge number of Russian and Ukrainian soldiers have died in the ongoing war between the two countries.
President Trump has made it his mission to try to bring peace between Russia and Ukraine since returning to office in January.
However, his efforts so far have seemingly been in vain as the conflict between the two countries continues to wage on without any sign of coming to an end.
While there have been temporary ceasefires between the neighbors, it hasn't taken long before strikes have picked up again.

Now, Trump is seemingly getting agitated by Vladimir Putin over the war, even going so far as to threaten Moscow with 'very severe tariffs' if they fail to stop attacking Kyiv by early September.
The US President also stated earlier today that he has ordered two nuclear submarines 'in the appropriate regions' in response to a heated exchange of words with a former Russian president.
In an attempt to justify his stance further on the conflict, Trump wrote in a post on his Truth Social platform just how many people have supposedly lost their lives in the conflict since the start of the year.

He claims that hundreds of thousands of soldiers have died in the fight, describing it as 'unnecessary death[s]', writing: "I have just been informed that almost 20,000 Russian soldiers died this month in the ridiculous war with Ukraine.
"Russia has lost 112,500 soldiers since the beginning of the year. That is a lot of unnecessary DEATH! Ukraine, however, has also suffered greatly.
"They have lost approximately 8,000 soldiers since January 1, 2025, and that number does not include their missing. Ukraine has also lost civilians, but in smaller numbers, as Russian rockets crash into Kyiv, and other Ukrainian locales."

Trump concluded: "This is a War that should have never happened — This is Biden’s War, not “TRUMP’s.” I’m just here to see if I can stop it!"
According to The New York Post, casualty figures haven't been openly shared by either Russia or Ukraine. They further reported that on July 10, Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, said that Russia had lost '100,000 soldiers — dead — not injured — dead' since the start of this year.
Meanwhile, The Kyiv Independent reports that daily figures released by Ukraine's General Staff estimate that Russia has lost a total of 33,000 troops over the course of July, with the total figure reportedly being over 1 million for the entirety of the conflict.
Trump's post comes as late last month on July 28, the US president told British Prime Minister Keir Starmer that he was 'very disappointed' with Putin.

He criticized the Russian leader's decision to continue with air strikes against civilian targets and how Putin apparently keeps defying their agreements.
"We thought we had it settled numerous times, and then President Putin goes out and starts launching rockets into some city like Kyiv and kills a lot of people in a nursing home or whatever," he said.
"You have bodies lying all over the street, and I say that’s not the way to do it. So we’ll see what happens with that."
