A man has been jailed after he kidnapped and attempted to murder a man to satisfy a ‘compulsive murder-fantasy’ that ‘mirrored the murders committed by the notorious serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer’.

Chance Seneca, 21, from Lafayette, Louisiana, was jailed for 45-years after pleading guilty to kidnapping and attempting to kill a gay man he met on Grindr.

The Department of Justice said Seneca hatched ‘a months long scheme’ to find and murder LGBTQ+ individuals.

Seneca started his horrific plan in 2020, when he downloaded and signed up to Grindr in an attempt to find a victim.

Through the app, he met a man named Holden White, referred to as H.W in an official press release.

The pair arranged to meet but Seneca took 18-year-old White to an isolated house, handcuffed him and then ‘used several methods to attempt to murder him’, the Department of Justice states.

Believing that he had killed his victim, he then began attempting to dismember him.

When he was apprehended and arrested, Seneca gave a chilling police interview, during which he admitted to officers that he had planned to continue murdering gay men 'until he was caught or killed'.

According to a release from the Department of Justice: “Seneca acknowledged that he kidnapped and attempted to murder H.W. in order to satisfy a compulsive murder-fantasy.

“Seneca had become fixated with the idea of killing gay men, and this fascination led him to spend months designing a murder-kidnapping scheme that mirrored the murders of gay men committed by the notorious serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer.

“Seneca intentionally targeted gay men, as Dahmer had done. Seneca had also intended to eat and preserve the bodies of his victims, as Dahmer had done.”

Miraculously, White survived the attack and woke in hospital after spending several days in a coma. He says he still has scars from Seneca’s dismemberment attempts.

In an interview with KATC, White said: "This is a hate crime due to a fact that he made it a point to choose a gay man on a gay app.

"He made sure I was a gay man and then in the same breath, he also idolised Jeffery Dahmer. What Jeffery Dahmer did was he choose gay men and lured them back to his house and he would kill them."

Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke said: “The facts of this case are truly shocking, and the defendant’s decision to specifically target gay men is a disturbing reminder of the unique prejudices and dangers facing the LGBTQ+ community today.

“The internet should be accessible and safe for all Americans, regardless of their gender or sexual orientation. We will continue to identify and intercept the predators who weaponise online platforms to target LGBTQ+ victims and carry out acts of violence and hate.”
