Lady Gaga broke down in tears as she explained why she pulled the plug on her Chromatica Ball show in Florida on Saturday (17 September).

The star kicked off the four-leg tour back in July, with cameras turning up last week to film her LA sold out show for a mystery project.

“52,000 people. Sold out. 30 cameras pointed at you and one take,” Gaga tweeted after the show.

However, during her Florida stint yesterday, the singer was forced to pull the plug mid-way through, before posting a tearful video to Instagram addressing her fans.

Watch Gaga's video below:

Gaga - who moments earlier had been on stage belting out hits - told her 50 million followers that an unforeseen storm had shut the show down, and lightning strikes sparked concern for the safety of her crew and fans.

As lightning started to strike around Miami's Hard Rock Stadium, Gaga told the 60,000 fans in attendance that the show would only stop ‘for a minute’.

During the show, Gaga reportedly said: "We just got to stop the show for a minute," before advising them to ‘really calmly move to the inside area’.

But the show had to be completely shut down, with Gaga taking to social media to address the incident in an emotional video.

Gaga explained: “Hi everybody. Thank you so much for coming to the Chromatica Ball. We really tried to finish the show tonight in Miami, but we really couldn't, because even when the rain stopped, there was lightning that was striking down to the ground so close to us.”

She added: “I know that for a really long time I’ve always wanted to be, like, that hardcore bad b***h, but what I also want is to be responsible and loving and I don't know what I would do if anything happened to anyone in the audience or any members of my crew, so I'm sorry that we didn't get to do the epic version of Rain On Me.”

Holding up flowers that a fan had thrown onstage, Gaga sweetly noted: “Whoever threw these to me onstage I will cherish them forever."

“I don't want to put your life in danger. What’s worth it more to me is life,” she emphasised before signing off her video saying: “Get home safely, God bless you and thank you for coming to the show.”

According to the BBC, fans gathered beneath a sheltered section of the venue singing Rain On Me as claps of thunder could be heard overhead.

However, despite eventually making their way back to their seats, organisers decided it was unsafe for the show to continue.

UNILAD has approached the Hard Rock Stadium for comment.

Beneath Gaga’s Instagram post, comments like: “Love you so much,” “We love you,” “Thank you for taking care of others” and “Thank you for everything queen,” quickly piled up.
