World’s longest hangover lasted four weeks after man drank 60 pints of beer

I don't want to even think about the level of beer fear he experienced.

**Content warning: Discussion of binge-drinking.**

A 37-year-old man had the world's longest known hangover after consuming 60 pints of beer.

We've all been there, waking up with a pain searing through the side of our head, blinking feeling like a chore, dry mouth and breath reeking from the one-too-many pints we had the night before.

Well, imagine that, but two of those symptoms multiplied by 28 days, because one man experienced a four-week hangover after drinking a whopping 34 liters of beer.

You shouldn't want to test this out anyway, but just in case the thought did pop into your head - with a TikToker purposefully overdosing on coffee you can never be too careful - please don't try this at home.

A 37-year-old man showed up at a Scottish hospital's accident and emergency department in October, 2006, reporting he had 'blurred vision' and a persistent headache - both of which had lasted four weeks - according to a study published in medical journal The Lancet.

He had no history of health problems or any head injuries and didn't take any regular medication.

So, what did doctors find when they checked the man over?

Well, when doctors looked him over, they found the patient was 'fully alert,' a CT scan didn't show up anything and neither did a check of his blood pressure or body temperature.

However, a spinal tap revealed the patient had a significant amount of pressure built up around his brain.

Blood tests also exposed the patient may be suffering from a rare auto-immune condition called lupus anticoagulant syndrome - where antibodies 'mistakenly attack healthy cells,' Cleveland Clinic explains.

An eye specialist was called in to check on the patient's eyesight, identifying bleeding nerve fibers and swollen optics, as per Trstdly. But what did this mean?

The eye specialist determined the man's symptoms were a result of his drinking.

Basically, the eye specialist determined he'd simply drunk far too much. The man then admitted he'd been drinking beer solidly for several days, just before he began experiencing the four-week-long headache and blurred vision - spurred on by a 'domestic crisis'.

It took a whole six months for the man to bid farewell to his lingering headache and hazy eyesight, with doctors administering him a long-term treatment of anticoagulation.

Finally, by July 2007 he was restored back to his former self - although, very much with a big lesson learned on why you should never solidly drink beer for multiple days on end.
