A TikToker has shared a list of symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis she experiences that you 'can't see'.

TikToker Nicole Pedra has opened up about what it's like living with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and some of the symptoms she experiences which others may not notice.

Multiple sclerosis (MS) 'is an autoimmune condition that affects your brain and spinal cord (central nervous system),' Cleveland Clinic reports.

It continues: "With MS, your immune system mistakenly attacks myelin cells. These are the protective covers (sheaths) that surround brain and spinal cord nerves. Myelin sheath damage interrupts messages (signals) that your nerves send throughout your body to perform functions like vision, sensation and movement.

"Myelin damage can occur in your brain, spinal cord and nerves that supply your eyes. There’s no cure for MS, but treatment is available to help minimize ongoing damage from it and help you manage symptoms."

And TikToker Nicole has taken to the platform to raise awareness of some symptoms 'you can't see'.

She states symptoms as including: Pedra Lhermitte's Sign (electric shock sensation), facial pain, MS hug, heat intolerance, body jerks, cognitive fog, itching (pruritus), hypersensitivity to light, restless leg syndrome, dropping things, shortness of breath, cold intolerance, swallowing difficulties, slurred speech, gastrointestinal issues.

And it's not taken long for people to flock to the comments in appreciation for the video.

One user said: "Feel all of this! fellow MS girly here- just had to get trigger point injections cause of how badly my muscles have seized from my last MS hug we got this."

"I don't have MS but it's interesting that my hEDS and comorbidities cause a lot of the same symptoms," another added.

And a third reminded: "Lots of trauma especially cptsd can also have these kinds of presenting symptoms. Those watching thing please don’t self diagnose. This vid is useful but there are other reasons this could be happening."

Cleveland Clinic notes other symptoms include 'changes to your vision (optic neuritis, double vision, vision loss), muscle weakness (usually affecting one side of your face or body, or below your waist) [and] numbness or abnormal sensations (usually affecting one side of your face or body, or below your waist)'.

Alongside 'fatigue, clumsiness, dizziness, difficulty with bladder regulation, loss of balance and coordination, difficulty with cognitive function (thinking, memory, concentration, learning and judgment), mood changes, muscle stiffness and muscle spasms (tremors)'.

However, it notes: "These symptoms vary from person to person and may fluctuate in severity from one day to the next. You may have a few of these symptoms but it’s unlikely you’ll experience all of them at once."
