Doctor weighs in on three bizarre theories about people who have 'never broken a bone'

There may be 'a spiritual reason' why a person has never broken a bone

A doctor has addressed three theories explaining why some people have never broken a bone - and they're not backed by science.

No one actively goes out of their way to break a bone...or so you’d hope.

Roughly 50 percent of people will break at least one bone in their lifetime, as per the Royal Osteoporosis Society, but it's true that some people are just generally more cautious than others.

According to Enable Law, the most commonly broken bone in the human body is the clavicle, also known as the collarbone.

Its prominent position at the top of the chest, coupled with its thin structure, means that it is highly susceptible to fractures from falls or sports-related impacts.

But according to TikTok creator Sara's Weird World, there could actually be a 'spiritual' reason why a person has never broken a bone.

"It's because they are protected by spiritual protection. Almost untouchable in a weird sense. Protected by the higher powers," she went on, as she divulged the first bizarre theory.

There's also the theory of someone having good karma which supposedly 'protects the individuals from coming to any harm'.

The third and final theory is that past life experiences may play a part in your life as it is now.

Sara explained: "It is said that those people in this life who have never broken a bone may have experienced significant trauma in a past life. So, the theory suggests that they are being spared from having similar experiences in this life."

But medical professional Dr Suhail Hussain and the Royal Osteoporosis Society have since weighed in on these unusual theories.

Speaking to our good friends over at LADbible, Dr Hussain shared that the likelihood of your breaking a bone is 'not all random or down to divine protection'.

"[It's] a mix of your genes, lifestyle, and even what you eat could be making your bones weaker or stronger," he explained.

For example, the strength of your bones can come down to your DNA.

Dr Hussain said: "Bone strength is largely inherited. That includes how dense your bones are, how well your body processes calcium, and even how your skeleton is built.

"Some of us are naturally more prone to thinner bones - and those can snap more easily under pressure."

As mentioned previously, lifestyle plays a factor in the chances of you breaking a bone.

"Lifestyle plays a huge role in whether or not you’ll suffer a fracture one day," said the healthcare expert.

Some of these lifestyle factors include smoking, your alcohol intake and how much exercise you do. Those who smoke, drink a lot and have limited exercise are reportedly more at risk.

Eating a balanced diet is also key to keeping your bones strong, thus preventing any breaks.

The Royal Osteoporosis Society (ROS) advises that people eat 'a variety of foods' which contain 'essential nutrients' as well as 'vitamin D'.
