Gypsy Rose Blanchard shares biggest fear after being released from prison

Gypsy Rose opened up about her fears as she prepares for life with husband Ryan Anderson

Gypsy Rose Blanchard has opened up about her biggest fear following her release from prison.

Blanchard has now been free for one week after she left prison on parole on 28 December, seven years after she was first sentenced for her role in the killing of her mother.

Blanchard was a victim of Munchausen by proxy; a form of abuse in which a guardian may seek attention or sympathy by making their child ill or exaggerating their illness.

In 2015, Blanchard persuaded her online boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn, to kill her mother.

Though she was initially sentenced to 10 years behind bars, Blanchard was granted release after serving seven years of her sentence.

As she prepared to leave prison behind, Blanchard told PEOPLE magazine she was 'ready for freedom'.

"I'm ready to expand and I think that goes for every facet of my life," she said.

Now 32, Blanchard is married to husband Ryan Anderson, who she met in 2020.

Anderson and Blanchard's relationship was entirely long distance while Blanchard was behind bars, but in 2022 they decided to move things to the next level by tying the knot.

Following her release, Blanchard is moving in with Anderson - a move that will mark the first time she has lived with a man.

“I grew up with a mom, so I didn’t even grow up with a dad in the house," she explained. "So I’m like, 'I don’t even know what it’s like to live with a man',”

Anderson picked up Blanchard when she was released, and revealed he planned to cook gumbo for her, as well as giving her presents and taking her on a 'romantic night out'.

"Gypsy's never been on a real date where you go and sit somewhere and eat and go to a movie or do whatever," he said.

Though Anderson had big plans for Blanchard's release, the former inmate has admitted she's apprehensive about one particular thing following her release.

With her relationship with Anderson previously having been long distance, she's now worried about how the pair will navigate disagreements.

She told PEOPLE: “I think the only fear that I have is, honestly, just making sure that we have good conflict [resolution]."

Talking more about her concerns, Blanchard continued: "I’m a very ‘in the moment’ type of person, so I want to make sure if we have an argument, I want to clear it up in the moment.

"He is … the opposite, where he has to sit on things and think about it, and then come back a couple hours later and resolve it.”

Anderson added some concerns of his own following Blanchard's release, pointing out: “It’s going to be a whirlwind and there’ll be a lot of attention.

“I’m still very nervous about that. I’m a very private person.”

More details about Blanchard and Anderson's relationship will be explored in a new docuseries, The Prison Confessions of Gypsy Rose Blanchard, which is set to be released on 5 January.
